As most of us know, New Balance’s sneaker lineage has always been about running. From the 574 to the 998 and all the way to the 1500, the numbered series from NB has stood the test of time due to the brand’s quality and comfort. There ofcourse have been certain pairs that have been synonymous to where they were known for. The 574’s been known to be more popular in the US, the 576 and 996 were more popular in the UK, while the 580’s been a Japanese staple.
The New Balance 580’s been a cult classic in Japan, with the shoe being worn by a lot of the youth throughout the land of the Rising Sun. So much so, the 580’s been a favorite collab piece for a lot of the Japanese brands. Coincidentally, 2016 marks the New Balance 580′s 20th anniversary. To celebrate the feat, New Balance is re-releasing the original Mad Hectic x mita Sneakers 10th anniversary collection in select stores around the world.
With the same color palette returning to the rugged silhouette, subtle upgrades and changes deliver a lightweight, the ‘Legacy’ lives on 10 years since their initial release. Using a mix of nubuck and nylone for the shoe’s upper, with the stitched tongue logos for that added detail to the classic. One big change from the classic pieces are the addition of the REVlite rollbar as opposed to the classic Rollbar found on the 580.
