VARSITY HEAT: WEEK 3

We survived another crazy week in the UAAP! There were some surprises (La Salle finally breaking that losing streak, UST pulling a fast one on FEU) while there were also some expected turnouts (Ateneo winning their 5th straight). With so many games in this shortened game schedule, players have been quiet with their kick game. But don’t get me wrong – we still saw some heat on court. But if you were to summarize Week 3, the biggest story sneaker-wise James Harden’s latest signature shoe, the Harden Vol.4.

FREE TO CREATE: Harden Vol.4 On Court

With the unveiling of the shoe a couple of Fridays ago (9/13), adidas athletes were seen wearing the shoe on court during the first set of games of Week 3. UP players Jun Manzo, Bright Akhuetie and Kobe Paras were seen wearing the shoe during the pre-game warmup, but with them only getting the shoe a day prior, they opted to wear their usual wares to the game. Adamson’s Jerrick Ahanmisi was the first to rock them in game, as he wore the ‘Barbershop’ colorway during their game against UST. Sooo after, Titan released the ‘Pink Lemonade’ colorway via their App (the colorway is a Titan-exclusive, so best to check the shoe in stores as that will be the only place you can cop them).

By the weekend, UST’s Mark Nonoy and Renz Abando were wearing them as well during their game against FEU. The adidas Harden Vol.4 ‘Pink Lemonade’ and ‘Barbershop’ retails for Php 7,000, with the latter being commercially available this Thursday, September 26.

SPONGEBOB CREW IN BLUE

*Kyrie 5 ‘Squidward’ Mike Nieto, Ateneo vs NU 9/22*

While we have seen the Nike Kyrie 5 Spongebob Collection before, it was the first time we caught Ateneo players rock them in-game. Both Mike Nieto and Thirdy Ravena wore their SpongeBob characters to the game, but Thirdy reverted back to the Zoom Freak 1 come game time. Special s/o to UP’s Dave Murrell, also wearing the Squidwad Kyrie 5s during their game against NU.

REST OF THE BEST

With the Harden Vol.4 and Spongebob taking over the court this week, there were some solid pairs from the rest of the League. Val Chauca (not in photo) wore the PUMA Clyde Court Title Run last Saturday, while CJ Cansino brought the Bruce Lee Kobe IXs to the court last Sunday. To round things out, Shaun Ildefonso wore his Lebron 16 x Titan ‘Agimat’ as SJ Belangel wore the Kyrie 5 x Taco during the same game.
