New Beginnings: Under Armour & Steph Curry celebrate new traditions with the Curry 7 CNY
It’s the start of a new decade and Under Arour and Stephen Curry’s celebrating Chinese New Year with a special colorway for the Curry 7 that honors one of the world’s oldest continuous artistic traditions – water color painting.
Similar to the Under Armour HOVR Havoc 2 CNY we featured last December, the Curry 7 CNY is inspired by the classic style of Chinese painting or guóhuà. The predominantly grey upper is complemented by the peony blooms found around the collar. These blooms were designed to commemorate new beginnings, both on and off the court.
It seems fitting to note that basketball continues to grow across the world, especially in China, where millions of kids are getting into the sport as it grows in popularity across the nation. UA’s been an advocate of the 3X3 game and China Women’s National 3X3 team is a great example of this devotion to the sport. In line with this, Steph hopes the Curry 7 CNY serves as a reminder and inspiration to everyone to build their one traditions through the pursuit of passions and the game.
Other details of the shoe features a golden, flexible plate, serving as an accent to the neutral grey hues of the sneaker. This plate separates the HOVR and Micro G cushioning tech, providing the athlete with superior cushioning and explosiveness with every burst.
The Under Armour Curry 7 CNY is set to drop tomorrow, January 10th, at all Under Armour stores and select Titan doors. The shoe retails for Php 7,995.
