Sleeper Pick: Nike Challenger OG

Posted on Jul 20, 2020 in Nike

While we’ve been on a Dunk wave as of late, there are a couple more silhouettes from the Nike archive that’s worth a second look. Though we are more attuned to the chunkier silhouettes, Nike prides itself with their running models, which are slimmer in nature. During the 70s, Nike had the Cortez, Tailwind, and recently, they retroed the Daybreak. This season, Nike adds another contemporary pair from the 70s, the Nike Challenger.

The original Challenger debuted in 1979 and was a hit amongst runners with its innovative zigzag pattern, variable-width system and lacing. Unlike the previous running retro models, the Challenger has more splits and panels on the upper, giving us more possible options with materials, textures and colors moving forward.

To kick things off, the Nike Challenger comes in its original form, with a combination of nylon, suede, and mesh found on the upper. The heel has been widened for a more comfortable fit. The Nike Challenger OG is now available via nike.com/ph for Php 4,595. Both the Light Bone and Black colorways are now available.
