Nike releases the Kybrid S2 ‘Sashiko’
Nike Basketball’s done an amazing job of tying their athlete’s personalities to their corresponding signature pairs. From PG’s love for fishing to Giannis’ unbreakable bond with his family, to Kyrie’s love for skateboarding, we’ve seen them across their footwear over the years. This holds true, especially with their most recent release for Kyrie Irving, the Kybrid S2 ‘Sashiko’.
The Kybrid silhouette (yes, it’s short for Kyrie Hybrid) mixes the most recent signature pairs from the line into one new sneaker. We initially saw the Kybrid S1 a few years back and this past weekend, Nike dropped the S2. Featuring elements from the Kyrie 4, 5, and 6 – The traction and tooling of the 4, the flytrap lace of the 5 and the heel counter of the 6 – the Kybrid S2 is sure to be a favorite of Kyrie fans.
The initial colorway that dropped for the PH market was the Sashiko. The release coincided with the drop of the Nike SB Dunk ‘Sashiko’. For those not too familiar, ‘sashiko’ is a form of decorative stitching done in Japan to revive and strengthen old materials or fabrics. As seen here and on the Dunk SB, sections of the silhouette come with the familiar blue sashiko stitching. Just like Kyrie’s ability to put opposing players on ‘skates’, the SB connection continues with this. To further tie in that love for skateboarding, the right tongue features a re-imagined Nike BB logo in the same design of the Nike SB logo.
The Nike Kybrid S2 ‘Sashiko’ is now available via nike.com/ph for Php 6,895.
