New: The Nike LeBron XXI is debuting this month
Ready for Year 21?
With LeBron James’ signature line now on its 21st edition, Nike Basketball and LeBron James continue to provide footwear for the next generation. Taking inspiration from his very own daughter Zhuri, the LeBron XXI is all about protection and propulsion.
The XXI’s upper looks like an oyster shell, providing the proper lockdown but still keeping it lightweight. It’s made of lightweight mono-mesh reinforced by 360 degrees of zonal cables found around the midfoot. The shoe’s quite breathable with its perforations. Under the hood, the shoe sits on a Zoom Turbo unit in the forefoot, while a 13mm Zoom unit on the heel for proper propulsion. To support this, a full-length Cushlon 2.0 foam provides that soft feel, with a TPU midfoot shank for stability.
“As we took our next steps from the LeBron XX, we were inspired by the way LeBron maintains his body and his game during the offseason,” says Jason Petrie, Lead Designer for the LeBron XXI. “His trainer says it’s like taking care of an F1 car. You tweak the car between each race. You don’t need to rebuild the car completely. We wanted to retain some of the elements we know he loved, like the Zoom Turbo unit, but refine some of the finishes in the upper.”
The LeBron XXI releases globally beginning September 28. Keep it locked here for more information on the upcoming release.
