New: The New Era of Air is here with the Nike Air Max Dn
How can you improve on Air? When Nike dropped the Tailwind (the first shoe to use “Air”) and the Air Max 1 roughly a decade after (or now known as the ’86 or ’87, take your pick), Nike continues to develop and improve on their footwear to this very day.
As we approach Air Max Week 2024, Nike unveiled their latest innovation for the Air Max line – the Air Max Dn. With this shoe, Nike makes walking on Air somewhat of a reality with Dynamic Air. Dynamic Air uses a dual-chamber, four-tubed Nike Air unit designed for unreal comfort, a smooth stride and max bounce. The dual-pressure unit should work in unison, with the air freely flowing from the higher pressure tubes (15 psi) and lower pressure tubes (5 psi).
I’m quite curious as to how “dynamic” the feel will be under foot. The Air chambers respond to the load with each step, making it a seamless feel with every movement. While the Dynamic Air setup is the key innovation here, the overall look of the Air Max Dn is no slouch.
A TPU shanck arch clip provides structure and support around the midfoot, while a TPU heel counter supports the Achilles. Nike also used injected Phylon around the Air unit for added comfort. A street-ready rubber outsole wraps around the heel for added traction and durability. Looking at the upper, the fluid design uses a modern haptic textile with a silicone finish.
“Dynamic Air raises our benchmark for what Air feels like,” says Gomez. “We’re always raising our expectations of what we can deliver for athletes. We’re using every tool at our disposal and every bit of our expertise to create new sensations with Air, while doing it more precisely. Maybe most important, we’re creating something that’s legitimately pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with comfort and motion. And this is just the beginning of the future of Air.”
The Air Max Dn ‘All Night’ colorway and additional colorways will release in adult and youth sizes on March 26 as part of Air Max Week 2024. The Air Max Dn ‘All Day’ colorway will launch via SNKRS and select retailers. Keep it locked here for more info on the upcoming release.
