New: Nike’s releasing the Kobe IV ‘Gold Medal’ this week
With Paris Olympics 2024 well under way, it seems fitting for Nike to bring out the big guns for the season. While we’ve seen the Blueprint Pack and special kits drop over the last few months, Nike continues to lead basketball, this time bringing an old favorite back — the Kobe 4 ‘Gold Medal’, this time in Protro fashion.
Kobe truly made an impact when he played with Team USA back in Beijing (although he did wear the Hyperdunk during his Olympic stint), it made perfect sense for Nike to create a special colorway celebrating the Redeem Team’s run that Summer. With the shimmery Metallic Gold and Dark Obsidian panels to complement the Flywired upper, these definitely were a hit then but continues to resonate with today’s ballers.
Now as a Protro, the Kobe IV is re-tooled and more responsive than the 2008 edition. The Kobes still come equipped with a padded collar and a resilient foam midsole with Air Zoom pods in the heel for a better overall feel. To add more Olympic lore, Kobe’s #10 jersey number is stamped into the heel coupled with a Gold Medal print on the shoe’s footbed.
The Nike Kobe IV Protro ‘Gold Medal’ drops this Monday, August 5, at Titan, and August 6, via SNKRS. The shoe retails for Php 9,895. Make sure to follow @titan_22 for more release info.
