New Balance PH is dropping 4 pairs from the Teddy Santis collection this week
It took a while, but we’re getting it.
After the official announcement back in April, creative director Teddy Santis’ Made in USA collection is finally hitting our stores after several shipment delays. While we did have a brief taste of the collection back in June, New Balance PH brings us 4 pairs from the solid collection. Here’s a breakdown of what’s to come:
Made in USA 990v1 ‘Marblehead’
While some pairs made it to our shores back in April, New Balance PH kicks it off with the 990 v1 ‘Marblehead’. The v1 uses grey hairy suede found on the shoe’s mudguard, midfoot and heel. Incense green mesh rounds out the upper while premium pigskin suede provides the right accent to complete the look. The brand’s ENCAP cushioning has withstood the test of time as seen on the v1, with a durable polyurethane rim for support.
Made in USA 990 v2 ‘Sea Salt’
If the v1 isn’t your steez, the 990 v2 is also back this week with the ‘Sea Salt’ coloway. Unlike the Marblehead series, the Sea Salt uses full grain leather and mesh for its upper. ABZORB is the key component of the shoe’s cushioning (vs ENCAP). The shoe also comes with a premium synthetic suede sockliner that’s sure to keep you comfortable all day. This Sea Salt rendition is actually inspired by the original colorway of the 554.
Made in USA 990 v2 ‘Chrysanthemum’
While the Marblehead and Sea Salt has seen earlier releases in other markets, we’re getting the ‘Chrysanthemum’ alongside everyone else. While the ‘Sea Salt’ uses a full grain leather for most of its upper, the Chrysanthemum uses a mix of a deep red, short hair suede (midfoot) and a slightly different shade for its hairy suede (heel and mudguard). Mesh underlays round out the overall design while sitting atop a cream midsole.
Made in USA 990v3 ‘Scarlet’
To round out this week’s release, we’re also getting the 990 v3 ‘NB Scarlet’. With the 990 changing over every release since 1982, the v3 features a premium pig suede in NB Scarlet, while accented by the marblehead overlays throughout. A darker shade of red was used for its mesh underlays, a good contrast to the greys used on the mesh tongue and ENCAP midsole cushioning. Just like the rest of the releases, Teddy used premium synthetic suede for its sockliner for a comfortable all-day ride.
