New: ASICS unveiled their A/W 2023 Collection this past week
ASICS has been pretty busy this past summer. After showcasing their collaborations during Paris Fashion Week, the brand moved their activation to Bangkok, Thailand as they unveiled their Autumn/Winter 2023 collection for Performance Running, Core Performance Sports, and ASICS SportStyle to the media, brand friends and ambassadors.
Miss Universe 2019 Gazini Ganados, key influencers Bea Benedicto and Marline Capones as well as actor Gab Lagman were in attendance to represent the Philippine contingent, while other actors and athletes from all around the South East Asian region were there to see the latest collections across the several categories.
“ASICS is firmly rooted in the founding philosophy of “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body” in a bid to improve both the body and mind through movement in sports and exercises. The new Autumn Winter 2023 collection aims to inspire all within the community to move their bodies to positively impact their mental and physical health.” – Yogesh Gandhi, Managing Director of ASICS Southeast Asia
To commemorate ASICS’ continued efforts towards sustainability at the AW23 Media Preview Day, the brand collaborated with Thai social activist turned artist WISHULADA, to create unique and purposeful art installations around the event space which utilises old ASICS footwear and apparel. This included the ASICS logo in an upcycled form to spotlight the brand’s lowest carbon emitting shoe, ASICS GEL-LYTE™ III CM 1.95.
For Performance Running, ASICS showcased their latest from the legacy lines – GEL-CUMULUS 25, GEL-KINSEI MAX, and the ever popular GEL-KAYANO 30. For the GEL-KAYANO 30, the brand notes that it’s the most comfortable pair with the most stable ride as it uses their 4D GUIDANCE SYSTEM. Our own contingent was able to try them out during a Running Clinic to test out the shoe’s key features.
For Core Performance Sports, ASICS focused on the limited-edition GEL-RESOLUTION 9 x BOSS. Designed for Italian Tennis Champion Matteo Berrettini, the latest model brings together ASICS’ advanced technology for baseline players with the modern toolings by BOSS’ design house. The A/W 2023 collection didn’t just focus on footwear, but also featued the brand’s ACTIBREEZE AW23 lineup (advanced breathability apparel) as well as the AW23 NAGINO collection , specially crafted for women to inspire body confidence and enable them to move freely. In conjunction, ASICS also launched the Move Every Mind study, a global initiative to tackle exercise inequality and to push forward the messaging of the positive impact movement has on mental health benefits and function.
For shoe heads like me, it’s all about ASICS SPORTSTYLE. The key stories for the upcoming season focuses on the GT-2160, JAPAN S ST, and the EX89. While we have seen them emerge over the last few seasons, this season focuses on their previously featured collab with Cecile Bahnsen (GT-2160). The JAPAN S ST and EX89 silhouettes continue to build on the brand’s rich basketball heritage, now in new colorways and improvements to the core classics.
