Anta brings out a spicy collection inspired by Chinese cuisine
ANTA Philippines has been making noise across the basketball circuits, especially with top athlete Klay Thompson getting his 4th ring this past June. Gone are the days when sneakers made in China equated to low quality or cheap knockoffs. Over the past few years, ANTA has put in the work to really go toe to toe against the big boys in the basketball category. With more and more cagers repping the brand, ANTA’s been providing them with solid silhouettes for their daily grind.
With the KT and GH lines more recognizable to hoopers glued to the NBA, ANTA has been producing other silhouettes for the rest of their NBA athletes (yes, they do have a couple – Kevon Looney, Terance Mann, Hamidou Diallo, and Precious Achiuwa just to name a few). The other players sometimes wear pairss from the Shock the Game collection, with ANTA not scrimping on technology with each and every release.
This July, ANTA takes inspiration from Chinese cuisine for their latest collection. Donning bright colors is the Shock the Game SHOW4 (or Shock Wave IV), with each pair representing key entrees in Chinese cuisine. Here’s a breakdown of the four pairs in the collection:
ANTA Shock The Game SHOW4 ‘Seafood’
The upper features colors of the ocean and the bounty found in ocean with its pink hits. The shoe also features prints on the heel and insole.
ANTA Shock the Game SHOW4 ‘River Snail Rice Noodle’
While it may seem to be a disjointed image to most of us, ANTA took inspiration from the packaging of the Instant Rice noodles flavored with river snails. River snails are seen on the toe box and heel, with the stripe pattern on the toe and side panels remind us of the noodles inside the package. Weird name, dope color blocking. The yellow laces also look like noodles on the savoury dish.
ANTA Shock the Game SHOW4 ‘Crawfish/Crayfish’
Tasty! The colors of the crustacean shine through in this pair. Pink hues are found throughout the shoe’s upper, similar to a cooked crawfish, lobster or shrimp. Star anise prints are found on the toebox, while a yellow beer mug (?) can be found on the heel. Beer goes really well with crawfish when you work them into a seafood boil. I’m not complaining. 🙂
ANTA Shock the Game SHOW4 ‘Barbecue’
The last pair in the collection takes on the classic barbecue skewer. Slathered in multi-colored splatters throughout, the colors also represent what you usually put on the skewer – sauce (white), meat (red), and veggies (green). A mushroom skewer is printed on the shoe’s heel, further driving home the point of this delectable dish.
Similar to KT and GH lines, the ANTA Shock the Game SHOW4 is packed with tech and innovation for all-day play. The shoe’s packed with its NitroEdge midsole cushioning for superior cushioning. The built-in lining provides a dynamic fit to best hug your foot, reducing slippage while stopping and starting. A TPU rigger is added for lateral support and a carbon fiber midfoot shank is there for better torsion control and resistance. Lastly, the outsole features a pretty aggressive herringbone-type pattern, making the shoe play well on any type of surface.
The ANTA Shock the Game SHOW4 drops this Monday, July 18 at select ANTA stores around the metro. Each pair from the pack retails for Php 6,495. For more information on upcoming ANTA releases, keep it locked here or follow ANTA on their social platforms.
