New: the adidas SPZL and C.P. Company collection drops today
STAY SPEZIAL.
I’ve been a huge fan of the adidas SPEZIAL movement and they’ve been knocking it out of the park every time out, especially with 2024 being their 10th anniversary of reimagining classics and giving them a fresh twist. Back in 2021, adidas SPZL and Italian brand C.P. Company came together for a speial collection celebrating the latter’s 50th anniversary. This was highlighted by the Italia CP SPZL trainer, making it one of the bright marks of the SPZL line. With SPZL celebrating their 10th this year, the two brands come together once again for a massive footwear, apparel and accessories collection.
In terms of footwear, the collection showcases six SPZL silhouettes, all told through the lens of C.P. Company. The CP Wimberley SPZL was inspired by a rare perforated Canadian version of the adidas Universal, a silhouette from the 80s, now done in two unique ways. The first uses shades of white and cream, which is closer to the original colorway of the Universal, but done with more premium and modern materials. The leather upper features webbed 3-Stripes with zig-zag deco stitching, along with serrated eye stays and a perforated toe box. The 2nd iteration goes for a suede base for its upper. The CP Wimberley SPZL retails for Php 7,700.
adids SPZL continues to take on ’80s silhouettes, looking towards the adidas Nepal, a hi-top outdoor boot, but converting it into the CP Helvellyn SPZL. The shoe’s winter-ready, but dones in a sand/grey colorway over a suede/mesh mix on the upper. The D-ring eyelets and gusseted tongue complete the look for this outdoor-ready silhouette. With the SL 72 being one of the remastered hits of 2024, the CP SL 83 SPZL continues its story, which is an update of the SL 83, but with added details and a mix of different materials over the olive green uppper. The CP Helvellyn SPZL goes for Php 11,900 while the CP SL 83 SPZL retails for Php 8,300.
This collection won’t be complete without a couple of SPZL icons making a return. First is the CP Manchester SPZL, but now done with updated premium materials, added eyelets and zig-zag stitching on the 3 Stripes. The CP Italia SPZL is back with with premium leather uppers with a suede T-Toe and done in its Royal Blue/White color blocking, similar to its previous release in 2021. Both the CP Manchester SPZL and the CP Italia SPZL retail for Php 8,900.
Aside from the key footwear pieces, CP x SPZL also comes with apparel and accessories all done in CP Company’s graphic iconography. The collection features a sweathshirt, short and long sleeve pocket tees as well as a collaborative logo tee. A half zip knit shirt is also available as well as a matching track top and pants. The apparel collection also highlights two outerwear jackets – the CP SPZL Puffer Jacket and the CP SPZL Flying Jacket. Both are just remarkable in its craftsmanship with detachable branding options. Crafted from flat nylon, an opaque nylon with a light resin finish on the reverse, each jacket features front pockets, embroidered logo patches on the chest, and the iconic C.P. Company lens on the left wrist, custom-designed for this collaboration. The Flying Jacket draws inspiration from classic aviation styles, highlighted by a fleece-lined collar that adds both comfort and a nod to vintage flight jackets. In terms of accessories, the collection also includes a side bag, two caps, and a pair of gloves.
The adidas SPZL x C.P. Company collection drops today, November 12 in limited quantities and will be available on the adidas app, adidas.com.ph and atmos BGC.
