New: adidas PH and Filipino designer Rik Rasos to bring us the Proudrace Jabbar

Over a year in the making, finally here. adidas Philippines has had local collaborations before, mostly with creatives/artists for their performance pairs and tees. This season, adidas teamed up with Filipino fashion designer Rik Rasos (Proudrace) featuring the adidas Jabbar as part of their special capsule collection. The partnership between the two bridges global heritage and Filipino artistry, bringing local craftsmanship to the world stage.
adidas continues to build on their commitment to cultural authenticity and community storytelling, that’s why the adidas Jabbar (Kareem’s first signature shoe with the brand) fits right in. Proudrace’s been known for their playful distortions, oversized proportions, and culturally inspired details, making their designs uniquely Filipino.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Rasos shared, “From the very beginning, I felt an incredible creative energy, the kind that happens when everyone’s on the same wavelength. What I loved most was how from our very first meeting the global team already had so many thoughtful ideas to make the shoe design perfectly fit the adidas mold while still preserving the DNA of Proudrace.”
Rasos infused his own memories into the Jabbar. “Every detail carries a memory — the warmth of hardwood floors, lace curtains from my lola’s house, even the stamp patch inspired by letters my dad sent while working overseas. Each element isn’t just visual; it carries the weight of memory, of home, of growing up Filipino. These are small symbols of connection across distance. Emotions you can see, touch, and feel in every pair.”

The adidas Proudrace Jabbar was designed to honor the silhouette’s basketball roots while resonating with people on a personal and cultural level . Kareem’s been an icon for the sport, as he carries a legacy that bridges both sport and culture. “I want everyone who sees these shoes — Filipino or from any background — to feel rooted in their own identity,” Rasos shared. “To walk confidently in what makes them who they are and celebrate their heritage every single day.”

This collaboration opens the door for more stories that celebrate Filipino identity through design. As Rik would put it, “Filipinos are globally competitive and our love for our culture can take us to places. We’re looking forward to another adidas Proudrace shoe in the future.”
The adidas Proudrace Jabbar Lo is now available for Php 7,000, while the Proudrace Stamp Tee and Proudrace Souvenir tee are priced at Php 2,900 and will be available beginning November 28.
