adidas Originals signals the return of the Superstar this season

Converse has Chucks. Nike has Jordans. adidas has the Superstar.
If you had to come up with a collection of sneakers that truly tell the history of sneakers, you have to pick the icons, the pairs that have lasted and continue to represent generations of sneaker enthusiasts. Initially made for the hardwood, the Superstar has transitioned itself to streetwear, further making an imprint on to the culture. This season, adidas shines the light on it once again, stressing the value and importance of “the Original”.


You’ve seen the promotional spots (see below) directed by visionary photographer and filmmaker Thibaut Grevet, the campaign brings together the brand’s best – cultural trailblazers that echo what it means to be an Original Icon. All these individuals have made their mark, be it through their respective fields with innovation and authenticity.


Samuel L. Jackson is tagged as narrator, and it joined by a generational cast – multi-award winning songwriter and producer Missy Elliott, skateboarding legend Mark Gonzales, NBA sensation Anthony Edwards, Memphis multi-platinum powerhouse GloRilla, American Singer Songwriter Teezo Touchdown, global music icon JENNIE, and boundary-pushing model and actress Gabbriette.

“Pyramids” has Jackson reflecting on enduring moments to human achievement that have withstood the test of time – just like the cultural impact of the Superstar.
“Clocks,” brings together the rest of the cast, bringing that solid statement to the forefront.
Just like what they were wearing on the spot, the Superstar II makes its return in its original white and black iterations alongside the iconic Firebird Tracksuit. The Superstar comes in extra padding on the tongue and collar, a sneaker that made its mark during the late 90s, as worn by athletes, musicians, artists and skaters alike. The Firebird Tracksuit has remained in the spotlight since the 60s, forever worn by icons to this day.
