New: Reebok unveils their first performance basketball shoe in over a decade – the Engine A

Posted on Feb 12, 2025 in Reebok

Long time coming.

Reebok, one of the brands I grew up with, is back with its first performance basketball shoe in over a decade. The ‘Engine A’ was first seen on the feet of WNBA All-Star Angel Reese, and you can finally have them on yours beginning this Friday, February 14th, 2025.

“The launch of the Reebok Engine A is a monumental moment forthe brand as we reclaim our stance on the court and within basketball culture, says Todd Krinsky, Reebok CEO. “The Engine A embodies all the Reebok stands for: top performance innovation, fearless risk-taking design and a continued commitment to deliver the best product possible to the athletes who are changing the game.”

Seeing the shoe up close, you might think it’s way too chunky to your liking, but it’s quite the opposite. The Exoskeleton upper is quite lightweight, providing you with a secure and breathable fit. The silver and black color blocking reminds us of the good ol’ days back in the 90’s when Reebok ruled the hardwood with it’s Mobius line (Shaqnosis, the Blast, Kamikaze, and the rest).

The Engine A brings back the brand’s Energy Return System (ERS) technology for its midsole. This lightweight EVA foam is stable but quite flexible. The ERS chambers are Nitrogen-infused, offering impact absorption both in the heel and forefoot. Lastly, the high-abrasion rubber outsole featues a multi-directional herringbone traction pattern for grip across various surfaces.

The Engine A will be seen across the brand’s growing hoops roster – Team RBK.B. The roster includes pros, college and high school athletes that hold a shared commitment to individuality, actual trailblazers on the court and off it. The current Team RBK.B roster includes Chicago Bulls’ rookie Matas Buzelis (as seen on this campaign), WNBA players Angel Reese and Lexie Brown, 5-star high school phenom Nate Ament and NBA prospect and G-League player Dink Pate.

The Reebok Engine A drops this Friday, February 14th, and will be available for Php 6,995 across Reebok PH, select Sports Central stores and reebok.ph. Expect to see more colorways throughout the basketball season. You can also see the Engine A in action on the feet of Pate and Buzelis during All-Star Weekend, with Pate participating in the Castrol Rising Stars and the AT&T Slam Dunk, respectively.
