In Focus: Skechers puts Mother Earth first

It’s good to know sports brands are putting in the work behind the scenes to keep their carbon footprint to a minimum. Skechers recently launched their Our Planet Matters® initiative, offering a selection that’s 100% vegan while utilizing recycled materials in its construction.

As it is Earth Month, Skechers has pledged to donate a minimum of $800,000 (approx. Php 45M) to help The Nature Conservancy achieve its mission to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. The organization works to restore forests, protect oceans and conserve various wildlife. To add to this, 93% of Skechers’ boxes and 100% of the foot forms and tissue paper packaging are all recyclable.

Here’s a rundown of the pairs that are part of the earth-friendly collection:

GO RUN LITE – AURORA SKY

The upper is made with 40% Recylced Polyester and its heel lining is made with 100% Recycled Polyester. The laceless Stretch Fit sneaker comes with a breathable recycled mesh upper, an Air-Cooled Goga Mat insole and a lightweight ULTRA GO® cushioned midsole. To keep the shoe comfortable, the GO RUN LITE uses the brand’s Soft Stride™ cushioning.  

SKECHERS SUMMITS – NEW NATURE

This sporty silhouette provides flexible comfort while designed with recycled materials. Engineered knit upper comes with stretch laces and a cushioning Skechers Memory Foam insoles.

SKECHERS GO WALK JOY – AURORA

The upper’s made with at least 20% recycled content by weight, while the mesh is made with 5GEN cushioning and complemented by a breathable Skechers Air-Cooled Goga Mat™ insole.
