New: the all-new Air Jordan XXXVIII takes you to another level
Can you believe the Air Jordan line’s already in its 38th iteration? it’s been 38 years since Michael signed on to Nike and his shoes have been synonymous to pinnacle performance and innovation. While it’s been 20 years since MJ took the court, his legacy continues through the next generation. With this, the new shoe – the Air Jordan XXXVIII – features a new plate technology dram from Jordan’s very own footwork.
With that framework, the shoe helps players with superior court mobility and create separation, just like Mike. The Air Jordan XXXVIII is low to the ground, great for court feel and movements, pivots and cuts. The shoe’s key innovation is the X-Plate, a nod to the straps found on the Air Jordan VIII, which locks the foot over the footbed with every move. The outsole features a radial herringbone traction pattern with a full-length Zoom Strobel unit and full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam for cushioning. To help in lateral movements, Jordan also put an outrigger to secure the foot.
The upper features a backless embroidery to secure the foot and doubles as a canvas highlighting MJ’s memorable performance during the ’93 Finals. MJ averaged almost 41 pts, 8 rebounds and 6 assists on 50% FG. The 41 crosshatches on the collar represent his 41-pt average. The 3 diamonds found on the medial side represent Chicago’s third consecutive championship duing that year.
The Air Jordan XXXVIII is also the most sustainable in the line – with the shoe being made of at least 20% recycled material by weight.
The Air Jordan XXXVIII is set to release the ‘Fundamental’ colorway on August 18 via jordan.com and select Global retailers. Keep it locked here for upcoming colorways and release schedules.
