New: Nike drops a shoe to match Ja Morant’s Game
Climb up the chimney, Ja.
A little over a month ago, Ja Morant and Nike Basketball unveiled his first signature shoe with the brand, the Ja 1. Being one of the most electric, dynamic players we have in the game today, the Ja 1 focuses on 3 key performance areas: dynamic lockdown, responsive ride, and support.
Being the brand’s first Gen Z signature athlete, the Ja 1 was designed for the next generation of playmakers. There’s more to see on the shoe with Ja’s imprint (more on this when the pairs release), but here’s how the designers put the core needs into the shoe:
Dynamic Lockdown: The midfoot lockdown system provides a secure and snug fit, allowing athletes to quickly change direction while on the court.
Responsive Ride: The forefoot Nike Air Zoom bag helps give a quick, explosive sensation underfoot.
Support for Landing: The raised sidewall guardrail helps support takeoff and landing on two feet, combined with a raised cushioned foam collar and zonal cushioning for additional ankle support.
While the shoe is slated to drop this spring (say around March/April 2023), the shoe will retail around $110 USD (roughly in the Php 5,695 to 5,995 range), the most affordable signature shoe under Nike Basketball. Check out some of the images below released during the Media Event last Thursday.
