Up Next: The Air Max Penny returns to our shores today
I’ve been a broken record over the last decade stating that the 90s were the golden age for sneakers (basketball sneakers to be exact). The brands brought their A-game and it’s been a free-for-all with everyone releasing bangers left and right. Can you imagine if IG or twitter were running during that era? We would be out of our minds on the daily.
But with the retro program alive and well in this era, we get to enjoy the greatest era whenever our favorite brands bring back their hits. Case in point – the Air Max Penny. For those who don’t remember seeing Penny Hardaway ballin’ out, Anfernee had one of the best signature lines and sneaker runs during the ’90s. While MJ took a brief break in between his championship run, one can definitely argue that Penny took the crown with his sneakers. The Air Max Penny was his first official shoe and we get them back this weekend.
While most of us remember owning a pair of the Orlando 1s (the black/white/blue colorway), we’re getting a close 1:1 remake today. To the jewel Swoosh and the 1-cent logo at the back, the ‘Home’ whites are back for everyone to enjoy. The all-white upper comes with pops of Varsity Royal, with black/white pinstripes forming the tongue. I always appreciated that subtle nod, which obviously represent the Magic unis from back in the day.
The Air Max Penny ‘Home’ drops today via SNKRS and is set to retail for Php 9,595. The shoe is also set to release at local doors real soon. Keep it locked here for more information on the local release. The Air Kukini and Air Force 1 Mid ’07 LX ‘Izakaya’ are also releasing today via SNKRS.
