Bringing it back to where it all started: adidas UltraBOOST DNA Prime

Posted on Sep 10, 2020 in Adidas

There’s no doubt that brands unveil new footwear and innovation during the biggest sporting events, be it on a domestic or global level. We’ve seen top athletes wear the latest innovations from brands during Finals, All-Star Games or special holiday games (ie Christmas Day, MLK, etc). But what better way to unveil footwear than on the biggest event where everyone is watching — the Olympics.

2012’s adizero Prime was limited to 2,012 pairs for the London Olympics

Over the last couple of Olympiads, brands have used the event as a launching pad for new innovations to better improve the sneaker landscape. Back in 2008, Nike unveiled Flywire when Kobe and the rest of the Nike athletes wore country-themed Hyperdunks. In 2012, adidas unveiled their first shoe to feature Primeknit – the adizero Prime. The shoe was initially limited to 2,012 pairs and began the knit trend along with Nike’s Flyknit. Eight years later, adidas pays homage to the iconic sneaker by creating the UltraBOOST DNA Prime.

The hybrid sneaker features the adizero Prime upper sitting atop the classic UltraBOOST midsole. The comes in Active Red and Core Black (not available) and has 2020 on the tongue, pretty much like how they were when the Prime debuted during the London Games. It would’ve been really cool to see the shoe during the Tokyo Games, but we’ll have to see what adidas has in store for the postponed games.

The adidas UltraBOOST DNA Prime ‘Active Red’ is now available via adidas.com.ph for Php 9,900. Click here to purchase this special silhouette.
