SuperEarth: adidas partners with Sean Wotherspoon for an earth-friendly Superstar
2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the adidas Superstar and the brand’s not pulling any punches with their releases. With several collaborations and special iterations dropping throughout the year, most sneaker aficionados have been waiting for these – the adidas SuperEarth Superstar with Sean Wotherspoon.
We all know the iconic sneaker how it has transitioned from the court to the street and throughout the world over. For this month’s release, adidas tapped collector, store owner and sneaker designer Sean Wotherspoon for a special rendition of the classic. Bringing his vintage streetwear touch and vegan spirit to the Superstar, Wotherspoon looked for plant-based, recyclable materials that gives the shoe multiple lives. The shoe features an embroidered floral pattern on the sides coupled with threads hanging out, pretty much like the Y’s by Yohji Yamamoto Super Position the dropped back in 2013. Super Earth and Sean’s SW logo can be seen on the tongue tab, while the earth is printed on the throat. The SuperEarth also features a blue and pink eyestay as well as a recycled shell toe. To finish it off, the SuperEarth Superstar comes with cork insoles.
The adidas SuperEarth Superstar is dropping on August 29th via adidas.com.ph, select adidas Originals Neighborhood stores and retailers. The shoe retails for Php 5,800 and comes in a white SW Super Earth-clad box.
