For the younger audiences out there, yes, there was an NBA franchise situated in Seattle. Back in the ’80s all the way up to the 2000s, the Seattle Supersonics were touted as one of the elite NBA teams. A lot of experts and fans would put the late ’80s/early ’90s as the teams that truly contended for the Larry O’B (as evidenced in the Last Dance).

Just as they played well during that era, Nike also released the quintessential sneaker that moved on from the chunky Air Force line. The Air Flight ’89 was truly one of the best sneakers to come out of that era. If you look closely, you would notice a similar tooling to the Air Jordan 4. Over three decades later, Nike pays homage to that classic Seattle-based team with the a colorway that is reminiscent of the good ‘ol days.

The mid top comes in a white leather upper, utilizing both smooth and tumbled leather for switches in texture. Forest Green and Del Sol accents throughout, as “Air Flight” is neatly embroidered on the green tongue, while the beaming Del Sol accents are found on the Swoosh, trim and portions of the toe bumper. Black is used on the top and bottom eyestays as well as the midsole and Nike Air branding found on the heel.

The Nike Air Flight ’89 ‘Sonics’ is now available via nike.com and retails for Php 6,445.
