The latest Converse x NEIGHBORHOOD collection is inspired by motorcycle culture
Earlier in the week, we noticed some activity surrounding Converse that piqued our interest. Fresh off the latest Golf le Fleur collection and recent collabs with Chinatown Market (need) and Joshua Vides (also need), Converse works with Japan’s NEIGHBORHOOD for a pair of silhouettes inspired by motorcycle culture.
We’ve seen NEIGHBORHOOD dabble into that culture before with their previous collections and they’ve done it again, this time with Converse highlighting the collection with the Chuck 70 and Jack Purcell. The footwear and apparel range will feature Shinsuke Takizawa’s design language with Converse’s line of products such as hats, jackets and several others.
As seen on the blacked-out CTAS ’70s, the shoe has an oversized velcro strap by the forefoot that features NBHD’s “Craft With Pride” tagline and “Shift” which is a reference to the action of switching gears with your foot while riding a bike. The shoe also features a tougher leather upper mixed in with canvas. For the Jack Purcell, the black/white combination can be found on the sneaker while the midsole features “NBHDCNSJP” which is Neighborhood and Converse JP. The JP’s smiley toe box is still present but with black rubber for better durability. The suede and leather upper also features Kanji character on the heel that translates to “resistance”.
While we’re still uncertain which apparel pieces are set to release locally, but the Converse x NEIGHBORHOOD collection features T-shirts, hoodies, sweatsuits, hats and other good stuff. Still aligned with the overall collection, the apparel features “CONVERSE RUBBER SHOE COMPANY” as well as pentagrams seen on previous NBHD collections.
The Converse x NEIGHBORHOOD collection is set to drop this Saturday, August 24 at Commonwealth, Sole Academy and Converse Greenbelt. The Chuck Taylor All Star 70s NBHD is slated to retail for Php 5,990 while the Jack Purcell will retail for Php 5,490.
The Converse x NBHD tee (Php 1,679, available in black and white) and the Converse x NBHD hoodie (Php 4,309, available in black and white) are also available this weekend.
