PUMA’s much awaited Thunder Spectra is finally releasing in the PH
After months of waiting and customs issues, they’re finally here. PUMA’s chunky sneaker, the Thunder Spectra, is finally releasing at their specialty doors this weekend. As the 90s chunky, dad trend’s been around for minute, don’t think that PUMA just hopped on the bandwagon without paying homage to its roots.
While all the brands have released a dad shoe locally at one point or another, PUMA’s Thunder Spectra has been the most anticipated one. Sure, they released a few months back in the US and Europe, but Asia’s only getting their stocks in this December. For better appreciation, PUMA and Alexander McQueen has been at the core of it all, way back when it wasn’t even a thing. The two have been partners way before luxury brands/designers were in partnership with the huge sports brands. If you think about it, 2005 was where luxury sportswear all started, as PUMA partnered with Mihara Yasuhiro, and eventually with McQueen.
While it may be a stretch to say the chunky sneaker started with the two, but the awkward luxury trainer definitely was kickstarted by McQueen and PUMA. In 2014, McQ by Alexander McQueen replaced the late designer’s label as the brand’s collaborative partner and released shoes such as the Tech Runner. The sneaker served as the main inspiration for the Thunder Spectra, as it carries a lot of the shoe’s design on to its plate. Although we teased you all during the PUMA Select and PUMA Trinoma store launch with a limited run, the Thunder Spectra is finally releasing this Saturday, December 22.
Not only is PUMA releasing the Thunder Spectra, they’re also releasing the Thunder Desert. A total of four (4) colorways are set to drop this Saturday across PUMA’s retail network. Here’s a breakdown of where you can find the Thunder Spectra and Desert this weeken:
