VARSITY HEAT: WEEK 1
We’re Baaaaaaaaack!
With UAAP Season 82 kicking off this past week, we had to make sure we took account of what our favorite collegiate cagers wore on court. But this season, we’re bigger and better than ever. Aside from working with SLAM PH, we’re also linking up with our other partners Kickspotting and Buhay Basket to give you a comprehensive look at gameday fits, off-court kicks, and everything in between this packed UAAP season. Without further ado, let’s check what they wore for Week 1:
AGIMAT ALL AROUND
Why not? Titan recently released the hottest shoe in time for the UAAP/FIBA season – the Nike LeBron 16 Low x Titan ‘Agimat’. A bunch of players wore them during the first week, from the likes of Tyler Tio, Gian Mamuyac, Mike Nieto, Juan Gomez De Liano, Wendell Comboy and many others. Regardless of your team kit, they’ll definitely stand out on court.
STRONG START FOR THE SNEAKER KING
Thirdy Ravena all up in your area! Last year’s Drip King/Sneaker King/Finals MVP started his final UAAP season strong with the Kobe 11 BHM. Last Sunday, he wore the PG 2.5 during shootaround and surprised us with a custom Zoom Freak 1s with My Hero Academia characters Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki on the side panels. Can’t wait to see what Thirdy has in store for the rest of the season!
WE SEE YOU, CHAUCA
Adamson’s Valandre Chauca wasted no time introducing himself to us some heat! This is the first time we’re seeing the In The Lab x Equalizer Zero Beta in action, and we’re loving it! After a solid showing vs Ateneo, Chauca follows it up with a pair of Converse All Star Pro BB and PUMA Clyde Court Disrupts vs NU. Should Thirdy be worried? Let’s see what the Adamson guard has to offer for the remainder of the season.
ZOOM FREAK 1 BY DLSU
Every year, DLSU keeps it clean by having Nike By You (formerly Nike iD) customs for the teams to use. As DLSU played their first UAAP game this season, the boys wore the first custom, the Zoom Freak 1. Dressed in white with green accents, the player’s numbers are found on the heel and their initials on the tongue. We also got word they have a PG3 waiting in the wings as well. DLSU gets love for their custom Nikes!
UNDER THE SEA WITH RICCI
Another sneaker that caused a stir over the past few weeks was the Kyrie 5 x SpongeBob SquarePants collection. Ricci Rivero decided to bring them for their game against UST.
