2006 saw the birth of the adidas REMIX collection; a collection for all the sneakerheads to sport performance wear on another level. the first set they came out with were the 5ive collection, all giving off that urban, cosby-esque look that were fly as hell. I remember Agent Zero even wearing the shoe during a game where he scored over 40 points. Since then, Adidas Remix has created collaborations with Gabriel Urist (TS Promodel=sic), Mama (adidas Pro Mama), and Robot Films (EQT Bball). Earlier this year, adi RMX had tie ups with Lemar and Dauley (Streetball ’08) as well as UNDRCRWN to release the Gil II Zero “Ice Cold”see image below). I’ve always thought of adidas as very plain- which is not bad, especially when your main goal is to serve the majority rather than the minority. But the collections they released were all fresh and got people to take a second look at the brand with the three stripes.

As we close out 2008, the adidas REMIX collection collaborates with UNDRCRWN once again for a three piece limited edition set called the adidas TS Commander + Creator x UNDRCRWN: the Brand for Champions series. adidas’ basketball campaign revolves around Command and Create- ithin every team there are distinct player models. The power players who crash the boards and dominate the paint and the perimeter playmakers who call the shots and run the floor with a fluidness that seems impossible to defend against. Within the adidas Basketball family, the Commanders are Kevin Garnett, Dwight Howard and Tim Duncan and the Creators are Tracy McGrady, Chauncey Billups and Gilbert Arenas.
The BfC Series captures what Commanders and Creators are all about. The NBA Champions trophy and ring, the two most coveted accolades received in the league, are used throughout the footwear series. Both are symbolic of the success achieved by Commanders and Creators. The three silhouettes (sneakers, to the common folk) each offer a distinctive take on what a champion looks and feels like.
TS Creator x UNDRCRWN pays homage to the NBA Champions ring with an undrcrwn champions ring embossed on it. Ofcourse we all know the ring symbolizes what all players aspire to be: champions. The black, yellow, silver colorway brings a fresh statement to bball kicks.
TS Creator Low x UNDRCRWN has vintage and classic written all over it. as undrcrwn and adidas would like to put it- respect the past, invent the future. Cream leather, canvas, a subtle hue of gold, blue and red make up this an instant vintage.
TS Commander x UNDRCRWN is the fashionable one. It’s been a trend lately to wear high tops more than low lows and this might fit your ghetto fabolous get up. I actually saw this sneaker at adidas Rockwell so grab it while you still can!
I really hope they release all three in Manila. The adidas REMIX collection is a godsend and should be on everyone’s radar and soles as we welcome the new year.
