With social media burning non-stop last night all about the Yeezy Boost 350 release, event recaps such as this don’t make any sense. If we were to summarize what happened: a) hundreds of people were hoping to get a pair from the adidas PH and Sole Academy release, b) the shoe sold out, c)a lot of people– even non-sneaker fans– were in attendance hoping to get a pair, and d)even old school heads were in attendance, acknowledging the shoe is one worth picking up.
Yesterday’s release marks the first of many possible releases of a higher tier from adidas Philippines and their partner specialty boutiques. For those living under a rock, adidas PH in partnership with Sole Academy released the Yeezy Boost 350, the second shoe from the adidas x Kanye West Collection. The shoe, featuring the brand’s best technologies — Primeknit and Boost — was available via raffle wherein patrons had to repost the image via Instagram and wait for codes via email to confirm their raffle entry.
A good number of people were in attendance and once their name/code was called, they had an opportunity to purchase the pair. Like most releases, there were some glitches in the process. Despite these hitches, it was still a successful event and a learning experience for possible future releases. People coming out for the Yeezy Boost 350 meant that people are taking notice of brands outside of the Swoosh, and this is a sign that our scene is slowly growing and maturing (the Yeezy aspect may still skew things, but you get the picture). Congratulations to all who were fortunate to bring home a pair, and kudos adidas PH and Sole Academy for making this happen. On to the next release!
UNIVERS, by virtue of their direct adidas Originals account, also received a number of pairs of the Yeezy Boost 350. They also held a raffle where they called each and every winning entry on how they can pick their pair up.
