Limited Edt, Singapore’s premiere sneaker store re-opened and relaunched their original store over at the Queensway Shopping Centre last weekend. Their Queensway branch, the first store from the LE group now houses their Basketball and Skate offerings, now called Limited Edt (Basketball) and LE Way (Skate), as opposed to LE and LE2. Recent Manila visitor Mark Ong aka SBTG helped in conceptualizing the design for the stores and you can definitely see his trademark on the walls and overall feel of the store. For more on how it all came together, check out the video done by No Average Joe or check out other sites and Limited Edt’s own site for more details. Can’t wait to visit SG again for Limited Edt!

2010′s been a good year. From the Infrareds to Cool Greys, we’ve been blessed with a solid set of kicks all year round. I picked up a couple of kicks (that’s an understatement) here and there that solidified my rotation and legitimized my collection. I’ve been preaching to everyone my love affair with running kicks more than hoop shoes throughout the life of this blog. Aside from the occasional Air Max, I’ve been on NBs this last quarter. From the 574s and the Night Runners, there was one NB that I just had to get- New Balance M577BST x LE Vault.

The shoe’s the second collaboration between Singapore sneaker boutique Limited Edt and New Balance. The first 577 dropped a couple of years back and was a solid release. Last November 12 they released 180 pairs exclusive to SG and I made some calls to get my pair. I got 155/180 for my 10.5s. The shoe came in a velvety jewelry box, a “money bag” and automatic access to VIP vault over at LE Chamber by Marina Bay Sands. It sucks that I wasn’t able to attend but the who’s who of Asia’s sneaker scene were all in attendance. LE has been in the biz for some time and when they holler, you better come correct.

The shoe also comes with classic LE “Vault” lace locks and 3 sets of laces. New Balance and LE had an exhibit in store as well to go along with their “English Tea”. Mind you, you couldn’t just walk in and pick your pair up. You had to set an appointment just to make sure you got the best service while picking your pair up from the Chamber.

This is definitely a solid release and an instant classic. I wanna thank the Man for picking up my pair and hand carrying the huge package in from Singapore. I was like a kid on Christmas morn’ once I got word the shoe was already at the store. Best way to end 2010? Maybe. It’ll be hard to top this one.

I heard the shoe’s still available at LE but in limited quantities. The shoe will have a global release at various stockists around the world and also in very limited quantities and sans the jewelry box.

Finally. The last store check update from my Singapore trip. It’s been a month since I swung by SG and I know this should’ve been out a few weeks back but it’s been pretty crazy. Anyways, the Puma outlet is located at Velocity mall by the Novena MRT stop. Velocity’s a haven for sports buffs. It’s no Queensway in terms of the volume of sneaker/sports stores, but it’s got enough to keep you lookin’. From the adidas outlet (which I couldn’t take photos in), a Nike store, a New Balance concept store, running and outdoor sports stores, the Novena stop is now not just about the famous Chicken Rice spot by the corner.

I was walking around when I saw the outlet. It wasn’t there the last time I was there. And with it being GSS, they were on sale., way more than your usual marked down prices you see at an outlet. I took some photos of the stuff I thought was worth something– Black Station on sale! Alexander McQueens, Dasslers, and then some. Yo MTV Raps and 917s at a fraction of their price was available too. I wasn’t able to take a photo but the Puma Outlet also had some Evisu x Puma jeans on sale as well as some other AMQ apparel. It sucks that I was on my out to meet my friends and not really there to shop.

But yes, Puma’s got some good stuff. Drop by the next time you’re in SG. After 6 store updates, it’s definitely worth taking a trip to SG for your sneaker hunting. I wasn’t able to drop by some other stores- Gallery, Nike Wisma (actually I did but opted not to take photos), Star Three Sixty (for Onitsuka Tigers and Asics), Limited Edt Chamber at Marina Bay Sands (which I heard was worth checking out) and a couple others.

Yes, the update continues. I know Warped’s got new stuff in store. But for those who aren’t familiar with Warped, recognize. Warped’s been ranked in the top 5 consignment sneaker stores in the world. Based on the stuff they have, this is a gold mine of sorts. Looking for deadstock? They’ll most likely have it here. From Pigeons (both SB and NB), Bacons, Yeezys, and tons of Js, Warped’s stacked like a mofo.

What’s great about Warped (aside from the stock they carry) is that they do have sales and discounts throughout the year. My photos do not do justice but you can check out the store the next time you drop by Singapore. Warped’s located by Far East Plaza (SG’s version of Greenhills’ Shoppesville) along Scotts Road. Warped also carries Tees, laces, and other stuff as well.

(just imagine me drooling over all these AMs and other adi and NB runners)

The store’s located at various places around town. I decided to drop by the store at Cineleisure and Far East Plaza. The store carries the usual suspects- Nike, adidas, New Balance, and Vans among others. They also carry some of Puma’s Black Station collection (Mihara, Urban Mobility, Alexander McQueen), which makes life easier if you’re lookin’ for those. They also carry Sperry as well as Red Wing- which seems to be a big hit everywhere but here.

I took a really quick trip to Singapore two weekends back and tried to get some rest (and some shopping) while I was there. I was in the midst of the Great Singapore Sale so stores left and right had great deals– every store wanted you to burn money at their installation. Aside checking out the usual shopping spots- Orchard Road, Marina Bay/Harbour Front, Queensway (for sneakers/sportswear), I decided to check out Haji Lane. Haji Lane is Singapore’s answer to Cubao X or the Collective. Lots of indie stores (mostly for girls), quaint little restos, and really cool works of art. The vibe was great and I’d like to think it would’ve been better had the weather cooperated.

The Sultan Mosque, if you choose to turn left than right

Arab Street, right beside Haji Lane

One store that’s been around a while, and for me the best one, was Know It Nothing. The store carried both local and international brands, kinda like our friends at Commune. The store definitely looks great and after a whole morning of walking all over the city, the cleanliness of the store really made me appreciate the style and vibe they’re trying to evoke.

In terms of brands, KiN carries a couple- Generic Surplus, PF Flyers, Maiden Noir, SIFR, MHI, Julian Red, Engineered Garments, SWEAR, UBIQ, Wood Wood and a host of others. I was able to buy a couple of Tees here and had a little chat with the people from the store. He mentioned that the store’s taste/style/vibe has changed over the years. They used to cater to a younger audience, but they too grew up and grew into their own preferences.

Aside from KiN, a couple of other stores had pretty nice displays and whatnot. I had 1 day to go all over the city and although Haji Lane was right smack in the middle of my day, it was a welcome break to the busy day. I really suggest you guys check out Haji Lane. It’s a cool strip worth checking out. For more photos on Haji Lane, check out the Sole Movement post as well as the Haji Lane photo album on Sole Movement’s photo album.

Alrighty yo. I know you guys were waiting for this. It’s been a week since I’ve been to Merlion city and it gave me enough time to figure a couple things out, but more on that later. I was there for the weekend but only had time to go around for a full day. The first day out, I realized that my camera’s battery was dead. Smart. I went around Orchard- Ion, 313, Wisma and Wheelock. It was such a short day as we were running all over and only had time to do a couple of things because we had to be somewhere. But thinkin’ bout it, we really didn’t have to. Oh well. Orchard’s changed a whole lot in a lil’ over a year. I should definitely make my trips to SG a little more frequent.

Day 3 (which was my 2nd full day in Singapore) is really my sneaker day. Went to a lot of places. Left the house at 9 so that I could get to the far flung places (Nike Outlet, NB Outlet), then work my way to the busier ones by the afternoon. I got to the Nike Factory Store 10 mins before it opened (or I got there in time but they opened 10 mins later). I first tried the place out on their opening day last year. They had SB tees, caps and other special releases that weren’t out on regular stores. This time around, MP SC 2010s were readily available and at a great price (89 SGD- 2900++). MP Tees were 2 for 4o (roughly amounting to about 2 for the price of 1 here). A couple of past season’s quickstrikes were also available- Parra Maxims, Cassete Playa Dunks, Chlorophyll Maxim 1s, and a couple of others. I didn’t buy anything, hoping to find better stuff at the NB Outlet.

15 mins later, I made a mistake. The NB Outlet didn’t have anything. Well, at least on the lifestyle side. If you were all about running, then yeah, they had stuff. I was in and out of the store in 30 seconds. Wasted my time there. Instead of taking the MRT, I took a cab and went straight to Queensway, where Limited Edt and LE2 is located.

Limited Edt still had the usual good stuff- Jordans, NSWs, Quickstrikes, a couple of Consortiums, Puma, NB, Reebok Pump Omnis. Most of the stuff were on sale, and it being the Great Singapore Sale season, they had more. If you bought any 2 items, you get an additional 20% off. Great right? I’m sure you’re more curious as to what’s in store. Do check out the pics below to see what Limited Edt had in store:

Aside from adidas, Reebok, and New Balance, you’ll notice most of the stuff in SG’s also available here. A couple of colorways here and there would be it, but most of the stuff’s readily available. Three or more years ago, goods would’ve been so different. I liked the NB display. I thought long and hard. and ended with an SB tee. That was that. Not even Kiks Tyo enticed me.

Right next door was LE2, home of SBs, Vans OTWs, and CONS. A lot of skate stuff really from those three brands. What was in store? Check the stuff out. For those who missed out on the Koston ninja release over at wL, they have both the Gold Dunk Hi as well as the blue Thai Dunk Lows here. Janoskis? Here too. Huf Blazers? Got ‘em here too. I should’ve picked those up. Oh well, this is what I get for stalling.

Well, that’s it for now. Right after Queensway, I decided to check out Haji Lane. A small street near the Bugis stop, Haji Lane is one cool spot you can’t not check out. The vibe was street with all the indie stores and goods abound. I’ll have more on Haji Lane and the rest of my Singapore sneaker check tomorrow.

postscript:Reebok Zigtech weren’t available yet in SG. It should be available this weekend, if I’m not mistaken.

Hopefully I do find some other stuff. Check back in a few and see what I find here. Later!
