OG like it’s 1996.
Initially an afterthought and considered a gimmick, the Air Rift is really a testament to Nike’s dedication to innovation and making athletes better. Similar to the Huarache from a couple years back, the Air Rift took the sneaker/sandal hybrid to the next level by studying and understanding how great Kenyan long distance runners are in the sport.
The unique split-toe design, the straps across the front and heel were definitely progressive which put the shoe in the love it or hate it range. For those who appreciated the look eventually wore them off the trail and into the clubs, making the slip on a nightly staple. On the tech side, the textile-engineered mesh upper keeps moisture away while the flexible outsole provides great motion and enhanced traction. This Monday, the Air Rift is back in its original colorway, inspired by Kenya’s colors. The shoe retails for Php 5,495 and will be available at all Sole Academy doors and webstore.
