Aside from unveiling the Crazylight Boost, adidas also unveiled Derrick Rose’s fifth signature shoe also donning the Boost technology, the D Rose 5 Boost. As opposed to the Boost heel on the Crazylight Boost, Rose’s model features a full length Boost cushioning system to provide you with the ultimate responsiveness and comfort to ensure maximum performance.

adidas also flips the script with the 5 by replacing the SprintFrame with an all-new EVA fit-cage for strength and support as well as an updated Sprintweb to keep the shoe lightweight and breathable. Throughout the D Rose 5 Boost story, the fit-cage acts as the core for each colorway, featuring unique and personal touches close to team Rose. As we all know, Rose is close to the city of Chicago and his family, thus you’ll see details throughout the shoe evoking the same spirit. Here are the details you’ll see on the shoe’s fit-cage

  • “R.A.D.” – stands for his brothers, Reggie, Allen and Dwayne, who helped raise Derrick, giving him the opportunity to play basketball undeterred
  • “Not supposed to be here” – quote Derrick gave at a press conference for the launch of the D Rose 3 where he spoke on how he defied the odds to be a successful NBA player
  • “No Freshman” – represents the rule at his high school where freshman weren’t allowed to play on the varsity basketball team
  • “Everybody Eats” – his desire to uplift those in his circle and from his neighborhood of Englewood
  • “1.7%” – the odds that the Chicago Bulls had to land the first overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, which they used to select Derrick

Each toe of each shoe will also have the name of his mother Brenda (right) and his son, PJ (left). Replacing the vertical Three stripes at the heel is a bigger and bolder D Rose logo representing his family and his style of play. Rose’s signature can also be found on the shoe’s outsole. Future colorways of the D Rose 5 Boost will feature other details and variants of the SprintWeb for an updated style.

The technology and design does not end with the updated Sprintweb and fit-cage. One striking innovation on the shoe is the interior mesh ankle pockets to provide better airflow and comfort. The shoe’s outsole offers various traction zones that include a wavy herringbone pattern on the forefoot and a square pattern on heel and midfoot. You’ll also notice that the forefoot and heel outsole are separated to maximize the benefits of Boost.

The adidas D Rose 5 Boost will be available this October and keep it locked here for more info on the shoe.
