After seeing the Spring/Summer collection from Nike Sportswear, it was only time ’til these would drop here. A revamped version of the Nike Huarache running shoe, NSW used the same upper but reinforced the shoe with the Free sole. This Quickstrike release pays tribute to one of the OG colorways that came out back in the early 90s. The White/Gold-Teal is now available at Sole Academy in limited quantities (1 size per pair from 8 to 12).

The Nike Huarache Free 2012 QS retails for 4,495 php. A copy of Sneaker Freaker with the Huarache on the cover will be given free for the first few buyers of the shoe.

We’ve seen a couple of hybrids from the Nike camp over the past few years and here’s another one that might be to your liking. They recently brought back the Waffle Trainer (not seen here but the Waffle Trainer in a Team Red cw is now available), and here’s the hybrid, the Nike Free Waffle. Though the shoe’s been out for a while, this New York-inspired colorway pops right out at first glance of the sneaker wall at the store. With breathable mesh panels and a Free outsole, this is definitely a lightweight shoe you can use for both training or down time.

Last March, Nike released a retro of the Original colorway of the Air Foamposite One, a shoe that Mike Bibby wore when he was a freshman leading the Arizona Wildcats to a championship back in 1997 (the shoe was eventually worn by Penny Hardaway, while he was still playing with the Magic). It’s also a shoe Tinker Hatfield wished he designed. To this day, he tips his hat off to Eric Avar, the genius behind the Foams and the current Kobe line.

Tomorrow, January 31, 2012, Nike, through Titan FORT, will release another colorway of this now-iconic shoe. The Electrolime/Electrolime-Black colorway of the Air Foamposite One will be available in limited quantities. The shoe retails for 9.295 php.

Here’s the third piece of the pack, the Nike Air Tailwind Vintage QS. What makes the Air Tailwind so special? It’s the first shoe that used “Air” built into the shoe. Also sporting the vintage look throughout the shoe- rough suede, aged mesh, yellowing midsoles and vintage outsoles, the Air Tailwind is a must, if you ask me.

Two words. Forrest Gump.

Earlier, we featured the Cortez Classic OG Nylon QS, and now we have the leather version of the silo, the Nike Cortez Classic OG Leather QS. If you’ve seen Forrest Gump, you must’ve seen these on his feet at one point or another during the award-winning film. With 2012 marking the shoe’s 40th year, Nike decided to release the shoe in its original form, big Swoosh an’ all. There are only 24 pairs available here in the Philippines and exclusive to sports lifestyle store Sole Academy. I personally like the construction on this pair, really similar to the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 it was patterned after. Like the other Cortez, the shoe went through the same aged production process, giving us that vintage look and feel.

You know you’re OG when you rock The Cortez. For 2012, Nike Sportswear brings back the classic Cortez in its true OG form, a pair worth picking up if you’re all about the rich heritage of the Swoosh. Part of the 3-piece Quickstrike Pack, the Nike Cortez Nylon Classic OG takes the awkward shape back along with vintage materials used in the first ever Nylon pair. Nike used their special “aging” process to give the shoe that classic look. From yellowing soles, distressed leather and the oversized Swoosh, the Nike Cortez is a must-have for Retro Running enthusiasts.

I guess you can say that these came with the Dunk as a pack of sorts. The Air Force 1, now embarking on their 30th year of existence, is done in a University Blue/Obsidian-White colorway and tumbled leather uppers. The color blocking is reminiscent of the Fantastic Four Pack from 06 (save for the transparent upper of the Invisible Girl AF-1s).

The Nike Air Force 1 is now available at Titan (Fort and Katipunan) for 4,095 php.

The Dunk (except for the SB Dunk Pro) finally made it back on Sole Movement! Not that I have anything against the classic sneaker from the Swoosh, but I just got tired of it. However, with the Black/University Blue colorway, it was hard to resist. Unlike most pairs from the factories, this one had great craftsmanship and quality. The Dunk High from the NSW line is one worth picking up if you’re looking for a powdery blue pair to rock.

The Nike Dunk High retails for 4,595 php and is now available at Titan’s Fort and Katipunan stores.

A couple of days ago, we featured the Spring/Summer 2012 line for Nike Sportswear, which included the latest Tees and Sneakers. One shoe that was included in the list was the Air Huarache Bball 2012. The Air Huarache was originally designed by Jordan Creative Guru Tinker Hatfield. He designed a really snug running shoe that didn’t have a heel counter, exposed the ankle area and a neoprene bootie. Groundbreaking stuff back then that almost didn’t make the production line. The shoe didn’t make the production minimum but they went ahead and produced 5,000 pairs and brought the shoe (unbeknownst to Nike Inc) and took the shoe to the New York marathon and sold each and every pair. Thus the shoe finally made the production run and the rest was history.

With the running shoe doing really well, Tinker realized that the Huarache concept can be applied to other sports, namely Basketball. The original Flight Huarache was worn by Michigan’s infamous Fab 5 (Cwebb, Juwan Howard, Jalen Rose, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson). Once the Wolverines wore ‘em, everybody just had to have a pair. Celebrating the Huarache’s 20th year of existence, Nike made a revamped version of the Air Huarache, now sporting a Nike Free sole. The shoe, using neoprene and synthetic upper is now made even lighter and more flexible with the Free outsole.

Currently available in a black/black-sport red colorway, do try the shoe out, whether you plan to wear them daily (they’re that light) or for ballin’. The Nike Air Huarache BBall 2012 retails for 5,995 php and is now available at Nike stores and stockists such as Titan (Fort and Katipunan).
