September promises to be a crazy one with the release of all these Kobes! A couple of days ago I featured the Blackout VIs. Along with that are these Kay Yow or “Think Pink” Kobe VI. This is a quickstrike release and only a couple of doors will be carrying them locally. The Kobe VI is done with a pinkfire upper with white and silver accents done on the swoosh, heel counter, and outsole. for additonal detail, there’s a pink Kay Yow Foundation ribbon by the heel. All proceeds of the Think Pinks go to the Kay Yow Foundation for Cancer research and development.

Talk about EPIC, which is what the Nike and the NBA Playoffs is all about. We’ve seen it- buzzer beaters (Jamal), game winners (Ray Ray, BRoy, Sixers), and sheer dominance (CP3, Wade, Rondo). I got this earlier today. Nike wanted to send a message that was epic. They weren’t kidding. At first I thought it was a picture framed poster, but I was wrong. From the usb (posted on twitter), to the EPIC posters, and all the way to the campaign book with packaging, Nike definitely got the message across. Nike + POSTSEASON= EPIC. And I thought this weekend was gonna go by slowly with the release of the BB Low and the Nike SBs. Boy was I wrong. With March Madness starting next week, Nike and Titan release the “Duke” colorway for the Zoom Kobe VI. The clean colorway makes sense for a lot of blue-blooded fans who follow the Blue Devils or the Eagles (which use the same cw for their unis). This is a limited release so do make sure to get your pair in an hour’s time over at Titan FORT. The Duke VIs retail for 6,995 php.

Another Kobe VI release that happened was the Kobe VI “Glass Blue” or better dubbed as the “Helicopter”. Inspired by the colors of Kobe’s helicopter (yes, Mamba’s got his own helicopter), this shoe is now available here in and you can cop beginning yesterday (yeah, I’m a day late) for 6,995 php. When I saw the shoe online a few months back, I had no interest in them. But seeing the shoe up close- the speckled clear outsole, the nice contrast of the blue, yellow and orange set on the grayish upper, they look good . So good that this might be a cop for me (especially with everyone going for the Dookies) If you want your shoes to talk more than your game, this is the shoe for you. You’ve seen the shoe (since it launched early January, and with the Grinch-greens dropping during the holidays), you’ve seen the various trailers, and even the Black Mamba trailer from a few days back. Anyway, I got this delivered to me yesterday. A most peculiar box. It wasn’t a pair of kicks, but with the CAUTION: MAMBA and the THIS SIDE UP stamped on the side, it got me and my colleagues curious as to what was inside.

Once we opened it, it was a black mamba inside a terrarium of sorts, similar to the displays you would see around town for the Kobe VI. This is creativity unparalleled! Nike pushed the envelope yet again to send out their PR material. The head of the Mamba was basically a flash drive containing all the documents, photos, and videos on the VI. I posted the viral on the VI (which came out a few months back) as well as the 2nd trailer of the Black Mamba (you can catch the first one here). Much love to Nike for the cool Mamba Press kit. There’s so much in store, folks. With All-Star Weekend a mere 10 days from now, stay tuned for all the craziness lined up.

I forgot to post this after the Christmas Day game. I was watching the games over at NBA Premium TV (if you still haven’t subscribed, you are missing out) and they featured the Stoplight Pack during the coverage. Although the KDIIIs are sold out, you still might find the Grinch Kobe VIs and the LeBron 8 V2s at select Nike stores nationwide.

No local commercials, HD (or SD) viewing of NBA games, US commercials, and wall-to-wall (and John Wall) NBA coverage all day. Just reminding everyone that the Stoplight/Christmas Day Pack dropping today, December 26 at Select Nike Stores (most likely the same stores that carried the CGs). The Zoom KDIII is a BHS exclusive, but the “Green Means Go” or “Grinch” Kobe VIs and “Run on Red” Lebron 8 V2 is available at the other key stores.
