With basketball being so big in the country, it’s becoming more and more of a regular occurrence to have NBA guests in the country. There’s no question that love for basketball starts at a very young age and last week’s event was a true testament to that. adidas Philippines brings back its focus on the youth through its grassroots program, adidas Nations. Partnering with NBA FIT, adidas Nations aims to develop the rich basketball talent in the country by giving young basketball players aged 13 and below a chance to participate in a basketball training camp. NBA 3-time champion Brian Shaw and Utah Jazz shooting guard Alec Burks led the NBA FIT | adidas Nations Skills Camp at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong where future basketball stars underwent a series of activities to test and hone their skills.
A program that started in 2007, adidas Nations has been bringing the best in coaching and skills training to challenge the young basketball players of today to compete against their peers nationally and globally. adidas Nations provides future basketball stars an intimate basketball skills development experience with NBA coaches and NBA players to help them step up their game.
With NBA Fit Week focusing on being active, eating healthy, and playing together, the adidas Nations Skills Camp aims to encourage athletes to be active in their chosen sport.
“The kids here in the Philippines are crazy for basketball. A lot of them have potential and we want to give them the opportunity to be trained by some of the best in the sport. Here in adidas, we want only the best for our athletes, and that includes opportunities like these training camps and providing them with products that have the latest in technology and innovation – an example of this would be the Crazylight Boost 2015 which features Primeknit technology for the first time ever in a basketball shoe, along with Boost cushioning. We consider it as our most innovative basketball shoe yet. It’s lightweight which allows our athletes to be quick on their feet,” shared Pat Giron, adidas PH Category Lead for Basketball.
Aside from learning from the best, the camp attendees were all dressed in adidas gear from head to toe, all getting an experience of what the Three Stripes had to offer. For more on adidas Nations and their other programs, make sure to follow adidas on facebook, twitter and Instagram (@adidasph).
