After the success of the initial Weatherman colorway, Nike Basketball continues the series for KD’s seventh signature shoe. Inspired by Durant’s fascination with meteorology, this is the 4th time Nike has created a ‘Weatherman’ silhouette. The shoe’s green upper pays homage to the newsroom green screens used by the meteorologists, while the doppler radar graphics are seen on the Hyperposite heel, Swoosh, and outsole.
The weather-themed storyline was revealed last June as part of the shoe’s overall inspiration connected to lightning and thunder, building on the legacy that began with the KD4 Weatherman in 2011. Back then, Nike created various ‘jobs’ their signature players might be doing if they never stepped on the hardwood (or if the lockout extended back in 2011).
The Nike KD7 ‘Weatherman’ drops this Thursday, March 5 at select Nike doors and retailers such as Titan. The shoe will retail for Php 7,995.
