Last Saturday, Puma and HideOut released the latest in the ongoing collaboration between Puma and streetwear gods UNDFTD. This season, the collab produced the Snakeskin Pack. For those who aren’t familiar, Puma and Undefeated decided to use the iconic Clyde, and worked on the silhouette using different materials that have yet to be used on the Puma classic. The snakeskin formstripe gives the shoe that premium look to go with the soft high grade leather.

People came in droves and checked the three-color pack (the Forest Night and Aruba Blue cw aren’t available for purchase) out. Puma and Hideout were gracious to host the event and provide great beats, UNDFTD burgers, and booze throughout the night. Whether it’s Dark Shadows, Ribbon Reds, or the Whites, you’re definitely getting a pair that’s worth every penny.

Last year, Puma started bringing in their collaboration with street wear icon Undefeated (UNDFTD) to our shores through Crate and Titan. This Saturday, May 5, Puma’s back with the latest addition to the special partnership, the Clyde x UNDFTD Snakeskin Pack. These will drop exclusively at HideOut GB5 (it’s been a while since we’ve heard something from the store!). 36 pairs will be sold (12 pairs each for 3 different colorways) beginning 5pm.

For those not familiar with the collab, UNDFTD and Puma decided to use materials and textures not commonly used on the classic Puma silhouette. They’ve used microdots, stripe-offs, canvas, ripstop nylon, and now snakeskin for the Clyde. Inspired by the 80s, this collection incorporates snakeskin into the formstripe, with the PUMA branding and ‘Clyde’ signature debossed into the quarter panel for a subtle finish. The FOT, traditionally found on the back of the heel, is executed with snakeskin and moved to the inside of the heel.

For everyone purchasing a pair during the launch, Puma’s got something extra that’ll be worth the trip. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Shoe Salon. As we are in the season of celebration and taking time off work, Shoe Salon released a couple of Puma pairs new and exclusive to the store. As you can see, there are nine pairs from their archive that’ll definitely fit you, the after-hours athlete. From the Basket Classic (chocolate brown-whisper white, 3,670 php), Clyde Script (carafe-whisper white, 3,670 php), and the Mirage 76 Leather (black-black, 3,510 php), Puma stocked the store with classic silhouettes that are perfect all year round.

The El Rey is also a silhouette that’s fairly new that I a lot of lately. This season, there is a Corduroy-ed version (burnt olive-black coffee, 2,550 php) and a Mid (chocolate brown-team charcoal, 3,430 php) that may be to your liking. Aside from El Reys, there is the Puma Volley (black-limoges-celery, 3,190 php) and the 917 Lo (black-limoges, 2,710 php). Ladies shouldn’t fret as they did stock up on the Sneakerina Shimmer in black and ebony (2,710 php).

A couple of days ago, I featured the latest from the Sebago x VANE collaboration. Aside from the 2 models (Field Exo Boot and Scout Boot) available in the Sebago stores, there are two pairs- the khaki/cedar Field Exo Boot and the Ridgeline Strap- that are exclusive to Hideout (Greenbelt 5). The two pairs are now available in store and retail for 9,999.75 php (Field Exo Boot) and 11,999.75 php (Ridgeline Strap). Both pairs are from VANE’s Dark Forrest Collection, a collection fusing utility and aesthetics. The pairs use a vibram outsole, making them a little more comfortable and durable for all sorts of terrain (you can’t really wear boat shoes in the forest, right?). The brands also used a waxed full-grain leather or nubuck for the shoe’s upper, both handsewn, assuring the user that the shoe’s built to last.

I was pretty happy with the constant flow of limited edition and collaborations brought in by Sebago. From their 40th Anniversary Docksides to the 1946 LTD Collection and last holiday’s Vane collab. This season, Sebago is bringing in their third collaboration with New York boutique VANE, the Dark Forrest Collection. The collection features two Field Exo Boots (similar to the black one released last season), the Scout Boot, and the Ridgeline Strap. These will come in handy with the rainy season just around the corner. At least you know Sebago’s more than just boat shoes.

The Dark Forrest Collection is inspired by the dark edges of the unknown, the vast areas of terrain where you must be prepared for anything, where the trail intersects with the imagination and utility meets aesthetics. The pairs are clean, simple and use a subtle, muted earthy color palette. The Field Exo Boots (9,999.75 php) are handsewn double quarter boots, with a waxed full grain leather upper, oiled and waxed tin cloth outer quarter all on a vibram rugged sole. I’ve seen them up close (and can be seen on the Sole Movement Facebook Page) and they are done right. The Scout Boot’s a little too tough for the streets though some people can definitely pull that look off. Sadly, I am not one of them. The Scout Boot goes for 10,999.75 php.

The last boot from the collab is the Ridgeline Strap. The shoe also uses a vibram outsole and multiple straps for a more secure fit. I was never a strappy kinda guy, but people won’t notice once you wear pants. The Ridgeline Strap retails for 11,999.75 php. You can purchase the Olive Stone Field Exo Boot and Scout Boot at Sebago MOA, Megamall and Trinoma. The Cedar/Khaki Field Exo Boot and the Ridgeline Strap are exclusively available at Hideout (Greenbelt 5). Cop them now as they are available in limited quantities.

Aside from Sebago’s stores, the Docksides are also available at other sneaker stores such as Shoe Salon and Hideout. The styles you see here are exclusive to these stores. If you are looking for a boat shoe that’ll definitely stand out, these pairs are for you.

These dropped over the weekend at Hideout then dropped at Titan yesterday. If you don’t know by now, these are the Air Jordan 1 Anodized. Sneakerheads have been falling head over heels over Foamposites and this is definitely a product of the demand. I personally don’t like it, but hey, Js are Js. Someone’s bound to tap these silver and red gems. If I had to choose, I’d pick up the silver ones. These retail for 7,995 php and still available over at Hideout and Titan.

A couple of months back, I got an email asking me about Keep. I was surprised that 1) someone else knew about the brand and 2) that they would actually ask me about it and see if it was really viable to bring the brand in. After a couple of months of figuring out how to make it work, they brought it in– Keep is here. To say the least, Keep is definitely keeping it real.

The brainchild of Una Kim, Keep was launched in ’06, andt came into being through the solid combination of timing, auspicious zodiacal forecasts and the deep desire to make classic, clean shoes without the bulk and bother of other brands. Initially made for the ladies, Keep’s goal was to veer away from the pinky, girly, kicks that was always associated with women’s kicks.

Now with the brand branching out in their reach, Keep is churning out classic silhouettes that’ll work for both sexes. With quality and design down pat, expect Keep to be a staple on your rotation. Believe me, with the influx of brands on our shores, I would rarely vouch for certain brands from the get go. Pricing is also attractive, with none of the shoes priced at a point you’ll be cussing them off the shelves. Needless to say, Keep is keeping it real.

Keep is now available at Shoe Salon (Trinoma, Glorietta, Mall of Asia, Rockwell, Shangri-La, Marquee, and Podium), as well as HideOut.

Sizing is a bit tricky with Keep, with their sizes pegged at women’s size. Sizes available for Solis and Nuss are size 9.5 to 11.5 (less 1.5 for men). Sizes available for Ramos, Benten and Homer are between 6-9. Drop by the stores for other colorways of the silhouettes you see here. I should really look for help with the sneaker updates. Hideout dropped these last week. Maharam Dunks for the ladies as well as a couple of Terminators for the fellas. I wasn’t able to take photos of the All Court vintages and the Sebago Docksides (new stock) also in store over at Hideout. It’s quite clear that I’m not too fond  of the Nike releases from Hideout. But the site’s here for the sole purpose of letting you guys know what’s up. Among the releases, I’d say the Maharams take the cake. Both pairs go for 5,295 php. Maybe Hideout’s got something good comin’ up…

Unfortunately. Well, I can’t find the norm. But it’s great to see Nike doing the Dunk in other materials for a change. Here’s two pairs I saw over at Hideout last weekend. The Black/Red/White Dunk Hi CL you see here retails for 4,595 php and uses a mix of leather, nylon, and nubuck. We all know that I’ve graduated from the school of Dunk already but I don’t mind rockin’ these if I had a pair. Maybe change the laces to black for a more low profile look.

Another Dunk Hi available at Hideout is the Dunk High Premium “Burgundy”. Heavyweight burgundy canvas upper matched with bright blue laces to give a great contrast. Yes, the upper is burgundy, not brown. Zoom air has been patched for better comfort and gum soles to finish off the look. The Dunk High Premium retails for 5,295 php, not bad, for the materials used for this one. But then again, I do find the pair rather a tad bit expensive. Dunk High SBs go for 5k, and you’re getting a better story behind them too. But hey, if you’re not too particular about the history behind some pairs, then knock yourselves out. The guys over at Hideout are good people and they’ll make sure they’ve got something for you, like these Dunk Highs. Now if only they had something for me, like those damn elusive AM 90 Infrareds.

I know I can’t let this post shine through without mentioning the infrared 90s. Still can’t believe Nike Phils is holding out on us with this one. Crapola.
