Cushe brings in a trio of pairs for September, all catering to needs of different consumers. Whether you’re a beach lover (Surf Slipper Canvas, above) or an urban trekker (Baja Mocc Suede, below) or even a Trail enthusiast (2nd shoe below in brown), Cushe aims to keep you comfy and ready for the adventure. The Surf Slipper Canvas (2,690 php) uses canvas on the upper and microfiber lining to keep the foot comfy and ventilated, perfect for our climate. Lightweight phylon molded EVA midsoles provide better shock absorption and additional comfort with every stride. For guys on the go, you might want to try the Baja Mocc Suede (4,490 php). The shoe boasts of oiled suede and mesh for the upper and a Vibram outsole. If you travel a lot, these are definitely comfortable and hassle free, especially with airport security checks. Last but certainly not the least is the Wild Run (4,490 php). The sock-like upper is perfect for the outdoors or the urban jungle. Though I prefer trail shoes for the outdoors, I can definitely see people wearing these wherever they may be.

You can now pick up these pairs from Cushe at their concept stores located at Festival Mall, Abreeza, Solenad 2, Trinoma, Newport (RWM), and Marquee Mall.

The past few seasons sneaker-wise has all been about simple silhouettes and clean looks. Here’s Cushe’s the Standard. Though this is just one colorway, this one gives me that Lacoste or Stan Smith feel. Upon trying them on, the shoe was comfortable mostly based on the shoe’s mesh lining. With a leather and canvas upper, the shoe works well either with jeans or khakis. Check the shoe out now at Cushe and other key sports stores.

I picked these up over the weekend as I needed a new flip flop to use for the next few months. What attracted me to the slipper was the packaging. Peep the packaging below and see what I’m talking about. I had a good experience with my first Cushe flip so that made my Manuka Fossil-Flop pick up a no-brainer. You can cop these at Cushe stores around town (Trinoma, Shangri-la, The Shoe Shop, Planet Sports and their newest store over at Resorts World Manila).

Last Sunday I passed by Trinoma once again to check out a couple of things. adidas Originals had a couple of offerings (OT Tech complete pack, Fafi, Def Jam, and a couple more), Nike had their usual Nike Basketball stuff, and the rest had, well, stock. I dropped by the newly opened flagship store of Cushe on the 3rd level to pick up these joints. I was at their launch last March 12 and would like to congratulate Gilson and George for a great turnout and for bringing Cushe to our shores. Aside from picking up the Manuka Fearless, I picked these up as well. This is the Cushe Tao.

The Tao comes in two colorways, a black/grey and a beige/cream one. Although it is summer, I decided to pick up the darker shade. Actually, I rarely use grey in my wardrobe, so this is quite a stretch for me. I wanted to see if I could rock grey/black– a color blocking bland as can be. The Tao has a soft full grain leather and suede upper. Like the other Cushe pairs before, they’re all stitched and detailed to perfection. The lace loops/eyelets are different from all the other pairs they’ve released before. Another cool thing about the shoe is the leather and vantilated micro fiber mesh lining. Unlike the Manuka line, the Tao’s sole has the lazy boy pattern to provide a better grip. I’ve been wearing the shoe for a day now and it feels great. I’ll wear the shoe a couple more times to see if they’ll be good to be an everydayer.

For more on Cushe’s offerings, I suggest you drop by the Trinoma store to the collection up close.

It’s a bright and sunny Saturday as I write this and what can I say? Summer’s here! I’d rather be at the beach or at some winter wonderland than to be at home feelin’ the heat. Anyways, I’m sure you wouldn’t want to read me ranting about the inevitable. What I do have here is something to wear this Summer- the Cushe Manuka Fearless. Actually, Cushe’s flipper has been available since they opened shop here but I got them right in time for the Summer. True to form of other Manuka pieces, these flip flops are damn comfy and feel great for walking around. The orange-cream camo definitely catches one’s attention. It’s not just spiffy but the really give you a good ride. I know this is the best time to rock your kicks but it’s also cool to let your feet breathe and let the sun shine on your puppies. I also attended Cushe’s official launch event over at Trinoma last Friday and great job guys! Let’s forever expand the shoe scene in the Philippines! For a complete look of Cushe’s collection, drop by their flagship store over at Trinoma.

It’s been a more or less quiet month, sneaker-wise. Ofcourse there were some special drops such as the AMs, the Star Wars pack and a host of others, but it wasn’t as crazy as December. I’ll be honest, I took a break from the game and picked up something that was wearable on a daily basis but moreso something I can wear during downtime. Slip ons!

So I decided to drop by Cushe over at Eastwood Mall (the Rockwell kiosk moved here) and picked up a slip on. I actually had my eye on a different one but noticed these instead. There were two colors available, this deep brown and a beige one. I needed something safe and something that won’t dirty up too much. This is the Manuka Drift. The shoe’s upper is made “Crazy Horse” leather (ok, reserve your Indian jokes guys). Crazy Horse has this distinct, distressed look. You might think the shoe’s all beaten up– but that’s how it’s made. It’s made to look that way. So even if you scratch the leather, just rub it off. It goes back to its original shade. Pretty cool, right?

Like the other Cushes I picked up previously, the detail on the shoe is amazing The twin elastic gussets gives off the illusion that you’re wearing lace ups, but they’re not. Aside from the detail, another great thing about the Drift is that its made to suit your foot. The shoe’s shaped to the natural curve of the foot, thus giving more space by the toe box and lets your foot breathe better.

Let me talk about cushioning. I won’t go into the technical mumbo jumbo with regards to the way the shoe’s built. But let me break it down for you. The sockliner is made up molded EVA (that soft, rubbery foam material you see in crocs). On top of this, there’s an even softer EVA lining to further cushion your puppies. The shoe’s got stitching all over, making the shoe lighter, flexible and sturdy– perfect for whatever lifestyle you lead.

The first photo on top is the outsole. Pretty swell, right? The honeycomb sole is unique to the whole Coasta Supremacy line. For more on the the 3 kinds, check out my initial post on Cushe a few months back. The name Manuka was not derived from the chicken, but from a premium honey out of New Zealand. this honey’s supposed to have healing powers and boosts athletic endurance. You learn something new everyday

I do reco you guys to check out the Cushe store at Eastwood, Shangri-la and at Trinoma. There’re so many styles to choose from. Trust me, they’re pretty cool. Cushe’s a great alternative to sneakers.

Comfort and Detail. Two words that rarely go together, especially in the world of sneakers. However, Cushe was able to mesh the two together with the shoe you’re looking at. Like my previous post on Cushe (again, pronounced Koo-She), they pay strict attention to detail. For sneaker aficionados, old or young, they would say that sneakers are great because of the maker’s attention to detail. You get this feeling that the shoe was well thought out, that the shoe was made with a purpose. With Cushe, you get that assurance with each and every pair.

This time around, I decided to take in a piece from the Urban Safari Collection, the Vinyl 45. As part of the said collection, the shoe definitely was made for the urban jungle. I’d like to classify the shoe as an “everydayer”. Yes, we here at Sole Movement love to invent words. An everydayer is a shoe you can wear, well, everyday. They’re pretty comfy, easy on the eyes, and go with whatever outfit. Now, onto the shoe’s details.

At first glance, take out the lazy boy logo on the left and you have a Mexico 66 look going on. But there’s more to the Mexico silhouette to the Vinyl 45. Let’s start with the upper. The upper is made with soft-grain leather and a canvas-padded collar. The upper had leather strips and stitching cris-crossing from left to right which still made sense. The internal toe box has a rubber toe bumper, that should definitely keep your toes safe and cushioned. After wearing the shoe for a couple of hours, the shoe didn’t feel tight or squeezed the life out of my foot. The shoe is well ventilated with the mesh lining, allowing your foot to breathe amidst the leather.

The shape of the Vinyl 45 has a moulded EVA in-sock liner and an atomical last shape for a more natural fit. Striding in them was pretty easy. There was no resistance with the laces or with sole. A shock-absorbing midsole was the culprit in the comfortable ride. I’ve worn my share of nice kicks, but some are just good for a 3 hour wear. max. These Cushes are good for the whole day.

Last but certainly not the least are the shoes’ molded rubber outsole with the Vinyl Groove grip. The outsole definitely looks like a record, with the groobes and the record label design along the arch support. The shoe’s grip was spot on and didn’t slip once, especially with the rains keeping walkways wet and slippery. Another great thing on the Vinyls are the waxed laces. They’re easy to use and look great.

The only drawback I have the shoe was that it looked wide. This is definitely a plus for people with wide feet. It’s tough to find a good-looking pair out there with a wide base. They suit me just fine, it just makes my foot look wider than the average. Aside from that, the Vinyl 45 is the perfect everydayer.

Cushe’s store is located by the top floor of the Rockwell Power Plant Mall, Makati City.
