Virgil Abloh’s latest Nike sneaker drops this June

While ‘The 10’ won’t be reissued anytime soon, that doesn’t mean Virgil Abloh is done collaborating with the Swoosh. This season, Virgil delves into Nike’s rich heritage in athletics with the Nike c/o Virgil Abloh “Athlete in Progress” Collection. The latest collection features the Nike x Off-White Zoom Terra Kiger 5. The shoe’s is inspired by the track and salutes that confidence held by runners.

For runners, it’s all about the power of self-belief. It’s all about breaking boundaries, your personal best or that next record. While runners are different and may have different goals, they do however share the same drive to improve and progress.

“I started talking with Nike about this women’s running project last summer and at the time, I was very much inspired by the aesthetic and style of track and field athletes. As a result, I invited some of Nike’s elite track and field champions to participate in my SS19 Off-White runway show as the natural forerunner to developing and showcasing the collection,” says Abloh.

The collection actually debuted in Paris during the Off-White SS19 show last September as worn by athletes Dina Asher Smith, Vashti Cunningham, Cecilia Yeung, English Gardner, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Nafi Thiam, Caterine Ibarguen and Rénelle Lamote. Abloh then wore the shoe to Coachella last April, further getting sneakerheads excited of the upcoming release.

The shoe he wore was the Nike x Off-White Zoom Terra Kiger 5. For those not too familiar, the Zoom Terra Kiger’s an old trail shoe from Nike archive. Abloh added suede overlays, exposed vintage tongue, his signature Off-White zip-tie and lettering as well as soft rubber spikes.

The Nike x Off-White Zoom Terra Kiger 5 is set to release on June 27 and will be available at Commonwealth (Greenbelt). The shoe retails for Php 8,095 and comes in three colorways.
