The “Year of the Monkey” Kyrie 4 drops this Friday

Year of the Monkey? Did Nike make a huge mistake on this release? This is not an oversight nor is this a shoe paying homage to this year’s Zodiac sign (Dog). Kyrie Irving was born in 1992 which was the Year of the Monkey. What makes shoes like this special are the details and this one’s got a bunch. Unlike previous Kyrie 4 releases, this edition uses various materials on its upper. The Anthracite (read: dark grey) uppers are made up of mesh on the toe while the side panels use an embossed/textured suede. The Swoosh also is made up of a different texture while a red and blue monkey wrap around Irving’s logo on the tongue. A multicolored outsole  and insoles complete the look.
