The LeBron 16 Low takes on another classic sneaker

Posted on Jul 2, 2019 in Nike

For NBA fans, the past two days were filled with mixed emotions. Some teams did something to bolster their roster to make them outright contenders, while others stood pat and waited on some key players to decide on where they’re headed. The Lakers’ dysfunction robbed us of LeBron’s 9th straight Finals appearance by not qualifying for the Postseason. It’s doubly unfortunate that we didn’t get to see the LeBron 16 in all its glory during the 2018-2019 Season (which is such a shame as it ranks quite high among one of the best LeBrons ever made). With so many solid releases, the hype could’ve been so much crazier if Bron ended up playing ’til May or June. Staying true to form with other shoe cycles, Nike Basketball went on to release the LeBron 16 Low, a shoe perfect for those playground games and off-court shenanigans.

After releasing some retro-inspired colorways over the last few months, Nike Basketball and LeBron James welcomes the summer with a bright and bold rendition of the LeBron 16 Low. The snug sock-like upper of the shoe is done in Hyper Jade while pops of lime green, purple and orange creep up around the low top sneaker. What shoe heads will notice here is the AIR LBJ 16 logo found on the tongue. The design is a call back to the mid-’90s logo Nike used for their Air Max line, specifically for the Air Max Trainer 2 which debuted in 1994. Aside from the updated tongue logo, LeBron’s initials “LBJ” are also found underneath the Nike logo on the heel. It’s quite amazing how Nike has changed the game when it comes to special make ups of the shoe, and not just a change in the color swatches.

The Nike LeBron 16 Low ‘Air LBJ’ is now available at select Titan and Nike Park stores around the metro. The shoe retails for Php 8,095.
