PBA and Kicks
Working for a sports network has its perks. You get to meet tons of celebrities, meet stars before they’re superstars (i.e. Manny Pacquiao), watch TV while at work and a whole lot more. The week before Christmas, we had a photo shoot with the biggest and most prestigious league in the Philippines, the PBA. We’re producing a calendar for some clients and agencies for 2010. Photos care of Regine David. Look her up on the net, she’s got tons of nice photos.
Now why am I talkin’ about this shoot on Sole Movement? It’s a known fact that kicks and basketball go together. Most players get pretty sweet kicks to wear on the court. It’s also a nice treat to meet players that appreciate the stuff they wear. Among the 50 or so players we shot and the lovely ladies (Lia Cruz, Mica Abesamis, Patricia Hizon, Marga Vargas and Cesca Litton), here are my picks of who rocked the best over the four-day shoot- Marga Vargas and Jared Dillinger. Honorable Mention goes to Patricia for rocking purple AM90s and Gabe/Sol/James Yap and some others rocking the Lebron VIIs. Jimmy Alapag was wearin’ these Js (well, they looked like Js). I saw the same kicks on court a few weeks back and couldn’t decipher what they were. It was like an AJ XI but with a vulcanized sole. Guys, a lil’ help?
Jared Dillinger wore the Air Max 3 or the Air Garnett 3 (original ones came out ’99) as well as the Nike SB Dunk Orange Hemps. How many ballers out there can rock kick ass kicks? Marga on the other hand had these cute Pumas that were really different from the ones you see around town.
I’ll try to post some more kicks in the future. But if you want to see more kicks, you can always catch the PBA on Solar TV (ch 9 or 14 on most cable providers) every Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays or replays on BTV (log on to btv.com.ph for more details).
