Nike strolls down memory lane with their ‘Shoe Dog’ Pack

If you read Phil Knight’s memoir Shoe Dog, you would’ve come across the three names he was considering for the name of his company — Nike, Falcon, and Dimension Six.

The Cortez is what the Stan Smith is for Nike. For over 40+ years, the sneaker has become synonymous to the Swoosh and really help propel Nike forward. In celebration of Shoe Dog, Nike Sportswear creates the Shoe Dog Pack, a three-piece pack featuring the Cortez but done with the possible names Knight envisioned for his brand.

The Shoe Dog Pack drops today, August 11, at Sole Academy and at Commonwealth (to release at a later date). The pack will be available on a first come, first serve basis. For Sole Academy, SA Gold Coin holders can purchase the pair/s exclusively from 12nn-1pm. They will also uphold a one pair per coin policy for this release. From 1pm onwards, they will open the sale of the pack to the public. Each pair from the Shoe Dog Pack retails for Php 4,995.

“Nike” Cortez

First is the classic Nike Cortez featuring a slim and elongated Swoosh. Carolyn Davidson’s Swoosh is embroidered in bright red on the lateral side, while the modernized Swoosh is done in tonal white on the medial side. This rendition of the Cortez also features a flipped heel tab, an exposed foam tongue, and a single layer of premium leather.

“Dimension Six” Cortez

If Phil Knight had his way, “Dimension Six” would’ve been Nike’s official name. On the lateral side, you’ll see an embroidered red circle framed by a blue stripe and the words Dimension Six right above it. Like the Nike Cortez, the shoe feature a flipped heel tab, exposed foam tongue, and a single layer of premium leather.

“Falcon” Cortez

Falcon was the most conceptual name, portraying speed and motion. This rendition of the Cortez features a large bird stitched on the lateral with contrasting gold “Falcon” trim on the top wing. Just like the previous two models, the modern Swoosh is found on the media side to go with the flipped heel tab, exposed tongue foam and a single layer of premium leather.
