Aside from the Air Max celebrating 30 years this March, Nike SB, the SB Dunk in particular, is celebrating 15 years. Yes, the Nike Dunk, originally a basketball shoe, transitioned on to a skate shoe, further cementing its lore as a true classic. In 2002, Nike made the Dunk as part of the Skateboarding offering, adding additional padding and worked with several skaters to further build on the SB brand. Next thing you know, artists, skaters, skate shops and everything tied to the culture had a hand in being part of the Nike SB family. Vice Sports created this 20+ min documentary about the SB Dunk. I truly enjoyed it, as this sparked my interest in sneakers outside of the Air Max and Jordan back in the day.
Sadly, Nike has discontinued the SB category for the Philippines. We just have to get our SB fix elsewhere these days. Let this mini documentary celebrate your love for the SB Dunk as well.
