Nike Basketball July 2010

hyperTwo Saturdays ago (and in some stores late last week), Nike finally dropped their Summer basketball collection- just in time for the 2010 UAAP season. They released a couple from the Hyper series- Hyperdunk 2010 (both in LAL and USAB colorways), Air Max Hyped (USAB edition), Air Max Hyperdunk 2010, and Jordan Brand’s AJ1 Alpha Outdoor.

The Hyperdunk 2010s have been posted online time and time again. Some people like it better than the original ones that were released back 08, but they do look a lot sleeker. In some angles, you could say this is what the Kobe V would look like had they made the shoe a mid/high cut model. Some teams in the UAAP are already using the USAB colorway (Ateneo, if I’m not mistaken). The USAB colors are out simply because it’s the offseason and the 2010 FIBA World Championships are going to be help this August. The Lakers cw, I will not mention why. We all know why it makes sense to sell us this cw. hyper3

hyper2I’m still on the fence with the  Air Max Hyped and the Air Max Hyperdunk 2010s. Though the Hypeds look pretty decent, it doesn’t get me up one bit. Could it be that it being a mid-level shoe and not a premium/signature shoe makes it unattractive? Like looking at the current Team USA, you’ll never see KD or Reke wear it. It’s more of a Brook/Robin/KevLove kinda shoe. I dunno. The same goes for the Air Max Hyperdunk 2010s. Now this is one colorway I’m trying to figure out. I’d like to think it’s a Miami-inspired colorway (miami vice more like it) but we’ve definitely seen the same colors on the Jordans from a couple of weeks back. The shoe though, is more like the Air Max Hyperize- the sole of the LeBron VII with the upper of the Hyperize. Except for the “carbonized” flywire upper, there’s not much else to get you excited. It is a mix of the LeBron VII’s full on air sole as well as the Hyperdunk’s upper. Worth it? I can’t say. But I’ve seen people who do prefer such a shoe. hyper1

Last but certainly not the least is JB’s AJ1 Alpha Outdoor. Save for the splash of laser blue on the strap and contrast stitching, I don’t get it why they’re for outdoor use. Maybe I need to take a look at it longer. The Jordan Alphas are doing well, and they don’t look half as bad when you play ball in them. Anyways, that’s what’s up with Nike for now. They’ll definitely drop some more in the coming weeks as the UAAP/NCAA season just started and the FIBA Worlds are just around the corner. Lots to get excited about! hyper5

Aww God! Dude, those AJ1 Alpha Outdoors don’t even deserve to be in the outlet stores. They should just send them back to the factory.

But the Hyperdunks, I have to say, are a good looking shoe. The USA’s are clean. Great updates as always!
