The New Balance 327 – all you need to know before they drop

Posted on Jul 19, 2020 in New Balance

They’re finally here.

After months of seeing releases globally, the latest New Balance silhouette is finally dropping in the Philippines this week. The New Balance 327 fuses 70s running styles with modern design, giving us the silhouette we never thought we needed.

After a wave of the chunky dad shoe, New Balance brings the simpler, stripped back designs of their 70s runners while keeping in trend with today’s cozy vibe. For better appreciation, here’s a quick video of the Origins of the 327:

New Balance 320 – 1976

Seeing these 70s silhouettes up close, you’ll definitely see the inspiration New Balance took to create the 327. Back in 1976, the brand introduces the 320 (see below), the first shoe to carry the iconic ‘N’ logo. Low key and lightweight, the 320 went on to become the marathoner’s shoe of choice.

New Balance 355 – 1977

After releasing the 320, New Balance followed it up with the 355, featuring a studded outsole, which made the shoe stable for trail runs. Similar to other silhouettes the past year, trail running sneakers are definitely crossing over to mainstream lifestyle.

New Balance SuperComp – 1977

Whle the 327 looks like a modernized 320 and 355, the 327 is made whole with the addition of the SuperComp. The latter’s lightweight upper and wrapped forefoot gave New Balance another feather in their cap back in the 70s.

These three silhouettes form the 327, making the silhouette a modern classic. The New Balance 327 drops this Saturday, July 25 at Commonwealth. Keep it locked here in the coming days for the upcoming colorways, pricing and release details.
