Rooted in history: New Balance takes a page from their archives to create the 237

From the 327 to the 237.

After teasing us with the Casablanca release a few weeks ago, New Balance is launching the 237 this March. Like the 327, the 237 is a modern silhouette that pays homage to the brand’s rich archives. With retro running back in full force this 2021, it made perfect sense for NB to go back to the 70s and redesign models that’ll be easier to wear for today’s daily grind.

Looking at the shoe’s design, the 237’s outsole was derived from the Comp 100 but on steroids, pretty much like how we see the 327s unique design. The upper takes materials that reflect the 70s – suede and nylon. Colors are bright and pop on both colorways, but color blocking makes them so much easier to wear than the loud colors we saw over the last 2 decades. The oversized panelling is shifted, going for that asymmetric look that just seems right. The stitched and oversized N logo goes with the same aesthetic as the 327.

The New Balance 237 will be available beginning March 24 at the following locations- New Balance (ATC, BHS, Trinoma, Festival Mall, Glorietta 4 and soon at Ayala Center Cebu and Marquee Mall), The Athlete’s Foot, Commonwealth, Capital and Zalora PH. The shoe retails for Php 4,495 and additional styles will be released throughout 2021.
