A couple of days ago I posted the Legacy of Craftmanship feature from adidas Originals, wherein a couple of young designers worked with adidas design guru Markus Thaler to come up with special pairs for Snoop Dogg Lion, Caroline Wozniacki, Lionel Messi, and Derrick Rose. Aside from sharing interesting pairs, what I really want to impart here is that so much goes into a pair, and we should understand and value the quality and craftsmanship that goes into some unique pairs.
Some of our friends like G3 Ilagan, figured it out with New Balance. G3 considers his latest pick-up a prized one- a 576, paying homage to Billy Edgar, one of their most dedicated workers over at the Flimby Factory. Part of their 30th Anniversary Flimby Factory Pack, this Made in UK pair is coupled with 2 other 576s also inspired by 2 other factory workers (Roy Bell and Andy Mandle). NB’s one of the few brands that pride themselves with handmade pairs, offering the best quality and craftsmanship with every purchase. Creating a pack to pay tribute to their hardest workers is ingenious.
Then comes the price. Most people won’t understand that this is worth the 299 SGD (with extra laces, a bag, and a jap NB lookbook to boot), but once you realize the quality and make of it, the price tag is justified. Great pick up!
