New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio releases the R_C1

Earlier this month, New Balance launched their latest silhouette with their Tokyo Design Studio – the R_C1. Since the brand’s beginnings, New Balance has always been about pushing the boundaries of design and progressive footwear trends. The same resonates with their Japan-based lifestyle team, the NB Tokyo Design Studio. The R_C1 draws inspiration from the Made in USA 997 and 1300JP but takes it to a whole other level with innovation. Looking at the sneaker, you’ll see the stretch knit tongue and molded nubuck saddle. But what truly stands out here is the brand’s new trace fiber and ENCAP Reveal midsole.

Trace fiber is embroidered and layered to minimize waste while keeping the shoe comfortable. ENCAP Reveal is an update on the brand’s classic midsole, but now exposed. ENCAP Reveal then sits atop Abzorb foam for that extra cushioning. Two colorways are set to drop this weekend exclusively at Commonwealth (Rockwell) on 27 October. The New Balance R_C1 Tokyo Design Studio retails for Php 8,995.
