Can you believe it’s been 20 years since New Balance first released the 580? Initially created to be an off-road trail running shoe, the 580 featured a full ground contact sole with stability technology (ROLLBAR), while keeping it lightweight with great impact absorption. But for some reason, style gurus and influencers used the MT580 for the ‘streets’. Collaborations with street boutiques eventually followed and kept the 580 relevant throughout the years.

From haute couture to athletic uniforms, neon colors are making a roaring return. To bring this hot trend from the runway to the streets, New Balance is launching a new MRT580 collection inspired by the neon glows common in solarized photography. Dubbed as the ‘Solarized’ Pack, the MRT580 Collection pushes the boundaries of nighttime visibility and vividness in footwear, featuring fluorescent colorways with reflective and glow-in-the-dark elements for unparalleled eye-catchiness. The MRT580 is now available for Php 5,795.

The first 580 from the pack comes in bright neon yellow accents to contrast the black. Each shoe is equipped with a high-tech REVlite midsole to provide a light and comfortably cushioned ride. The outsoles are glow-in-the-dark to keep with the solarized theme. Aside from the MRT580 is the neon ML999 and the CM1600 (coming out in March 2016), both receiving the same design elements as the 580. The ML999 also retails for Php 5,795 while the CM1600 will retail for Php 5,995.

The New Balance Solarized Pack is now available at the newly revamped The Athlete’s Foot as well as select New Balance doors around the metro.
