Welcome to the Family, Kiefer

Posted on May 4, 2021 in Jordan Brand

About damn time.

With the love the Philippines has for basketball, it was only a matter of time for Jordan Brand to add a Filipino athlete to their roster. And it makes perfect sense that they hand picked Gilas Pilipinas team captain and PBA star Kiefer Ravena to be their man. Kiefer’s passion and love for the game reflects what MJ and his Jordanaires live by.

“It’s an honor for me to be part of this basketball family. I’m both thankful and excited to be the first Filipino to be a member of the Jordan Brand. Seeing how MJ played during his time in the NBA, I collected his shoes and wanted to be a part of his camps in the U.S. My first pair of basketball shoes were Jordan 9s,” says the Gilas Pilipinas mainstay.

While Ravena’s fairly young at 27, his list of accolades definitely is something to be proud of. From being a two-timw MVP and champion with the Ateneo Blue Eaglets then winning two more chips with the Seniors, Kiefer showed out and proved he was a true star of the game. Keifer moved on to training with the D-League Texas Legends then got drafted 2nd by the NLEX Road Warriors, becoming an All-Star and bonafide leader of the team. On the global front, he’s won five gold medals for the country during the SEA Games and played in numerous FIBA tournaments such as the FIBA Asia Champions Cup (2017), FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament (2019) and several FIBA 3×3 tournaments sprinkled over the last decade.

We’re inspired by Manila’s basketball culture and are thrilled to welcome our first Filipino athlete to the Jordan family,” says Craig Williams, Jordan Brand President. “Basketball has a powerful influence on youth culture around the globe, and Kiefer can inspire future generations of ballers to make an impact in their hometowns and beyond. We are united by a shared love for the game, and Kiefer – a two-time UAAP MVP and Champion – represents the passion and love for basketball that you see all over the Philippines.”

Kiefer joins a spectacular roster of basketball athletes from the NBA and WNBA such as Zion Williamson, Satou Sabally, Luka Dončić, Jayson Tatum, Asia Durr, and Kia Nurse as well as Asian athletes Rui Hachimura and Guo Ailun.
