The Air Jordan XI Retro ‘Cool Grey’ drops this weekend

Posted on Dec 6, 2021 in Jordan Brand

It’s that time of the year.

Over the last decade, Jordan Brand has made the holidays their annual release for the Air Jordan XI. Back in 2010, Jordan dropped the Cool Grey XI Retro and that kicked off the holiday frenzy for sneakerheads all around. 11 years after, we’re getting the Cool Greys again, now serving both old and new Jordan fans alike with this legendary retro.

To give better context to the release, the Cool Grey XIs first released back in 2001, when MJ came out of retirement for a second time, this time playing for the Washington Wizards. The CG XIs weren’t technically an OG colorway (that dropped in ’96), but since MJ played in them during his last tour of duty in the NBA, people have grown to love the colorway just the same. Since 2001, the shoe has dropped two more times – 2010 as previously mentioned – and 2018 (but as a low top).

So what makes this release any different from the 2 other retros? Aside from it being the shoe’s 20th anniversary, this year’s edition comes close to the original release from 2001. From the patent leather mudguards, nubuck uppers and the icy blue outsole, Jordan purists should be pleased with this release. We were fortunate enough to get our pair early from Titan, and I must say the shoe looks as good as the original pair from 2001.

The Air Jordan XI Retro ‘Cool Grey’ drops this Saturday, December 11. The shoe will retail for Php 10,995 and will also be available in full family sizing. You can head to Titan, Jordan Manila, and Nike Park doors for this release.

*Do note that the general release for the shoe will not come in this special box Titan created for it.
